I have two discord accounts that I use for different purposes. I wanted to swap around their usernames (use username A on account B and vice versa). I changed the username of my second account temporarily as I wouldn't be able to make the change on my main otherwise, but when I go onto my main account to change to my secondary's old name it just says username unavailable, despite me literally changing the name prior so the username should be free for me to use on my main.

When I try to revert my secondary back to its original name, the name is available, is that name now only reserved for that account or something in case I wanted to change back? This was like three days ago now and I've been trying to change it every day, but my secondary account name is still unavailable for my main, despite no users actually holding that account name right now. I've checked by trying to add the username I want as a friend, but nothing comes up. The name is only available on my second account, the original name holder.

I've contacted discord support about this but all I got was bot response emails that respond to me in the same minute and pretty much just link me to their new username requirements, which isn't exactly helpful to me.

I was wondering if anyone has any idea how long I'll have to wait until the username I want becomes available?

Well the only thing you can do is wait for it to become available. There's indeed a cooldown but it does extend if the automated system detects strange activity

Contact mods is for moderation issues in this server, not support with your Discord client. You should do a full reinstall, including deleting everything from that c:\users\gdeve\AppData\Local\Discord directory before reinstalling, so that everything is fresh.

Have you used client mods like BetterDiscord in the past? You don't have to answer that, but those tend to cause issues like this.

IP / Domain blacklist perhaps? Your ISP or MX not being considered trustworthy?

The E-Mail thing Discord could add a formal blacklist for and not allow to use. So the only thing I could possibly think of is that Discord allows you to visit the website and log in with your current account, but not any future ones you make because Discord is range-targeting accounts made with specific IP ranges.

If — and only if — what I said was true, it's not more racism, than you being swept up in a range because your ISP is (probably, unknowingly) consenting abuse through their service. Sucks to be wrapped up in that but it sometimes happens. E-Mail Discord politely and they might help you understand better what is going on.

it's not gonna matter. it's not a connection issue on your side. the servers that the api requests are being routed through are having issues. a vpn won't change anything. it's still the same destination servers.
