#Struggling to split a 3D model in Anycubic

I have a deer skull mask I’m trying to split into parts, because my anycubic 3D resin printer is small. I’m trying to keep it simple by using Anycubic so please don’t recommend other softwares.
The splitting has been hit or miss. Sometimes when I split a model it keeps both parts, sometimes it only keeps the part I split off, and sometimes it deletes the whole thing entirely. I’m at a loss.
I simply want to split off the red part to the right so that I can start working on splitting up the antlers into pieces my printer can manage. I’ve managed to separate the whole face of the mask but the antlers will not cooperate. What am I doing wrong? All tutorials show me a different version of Anycubic, even if the videos are newer, so they’re not helpful.
