So last month I got into a serious accident that cost me my truck, Betsy. Sadly this also means all my projects relating to her are gone. I got my settlement and now I have a 2011 crown Victoria, and it has tuning capabilities built in (more than enough for anything I want to do with it and the software) and it’s obdII. so I decided I’m going to run FORscan on my raspberry pi5, strap it to the back of the 10 inch screen, and have a large tablet I can use for code scanning, module reading, data logging, and allows me to turn on and off functions in my Vic, allowing me to add things like cruise control with the checking of a box. So far all I’ve done is get Pilite OS on my pi5 and get it set to installing the necessary software for a GUI. I will update this tomorrow as I’m still out of work for the next few weeks so I’m hoping to have this tested by tomorrow and a print made by the end of the week. I believe I already have the files for the screen, pi, and cooling tower on the pi so making the handle shouldn’t be difficult. I plan to be able to run it on the cigarette lighter and eventually integrate the whole thing into a center console project. This can most definitely be done for any of the OE automotive manufacturer softwares that you can get, given you’re willing to risk some potential headaches, thankfully someone on Reddit got it running on Linux, so now it’s just a matter of running it on the Pi.

Update with no picture or video. So getting FORScan to run as a raspi tablet, not so feasible, maybe with a lattepanda or similar x86 chipset. However I did find a potentially easier solution. I have found a repository for running android on the pi, I can use this to attain all the basic functions im looking for. Will update tomorrow
Update. I went the easier route and just put android on my pi5 using konstaKANG’s lineageOS build going to attempt to put some things on it and get it going then we’ll see if it connects with the adapter
