#Bed Mesh Height Being Added Onto Model Height

Hm. What could be affecting my model height? I was printing a 20mm^3 test cube for shrinkage and elephant's foot. My sides are 19.87, so I do have some X and Y shrinkage, but...
My height is 22.58mm?
The caliper tool in Orca Slicer shows I should get 20mm.
Something is causing my model to be taller than it should be.

My bed mesh is 7x7, 3pps, and fade at 10mm. Z-offset is perfectly calibrated. However, my printer seems to be adding this initial Z value to the model height? Is it because my Z-offset is somehow not being treated as the true height or something? My deviance is below 0.2, usually 0.16 or so. I do heat soak the bed for 5 minutes before load cell taring and doing the bed mesh. Maybe adding the z-offset to Orca Slicer will help? I honestly have no clue what's going on. I just want an accurate height...

I also noticed that about 10mm up my model, the filament color gets slightly darker and the walls are ever so slightly moved inwards, no matter the model I print. This is leading me to believe something is screwy on my bed mesh settings.

[bed_mesh] speed: 120 # probing speed in mm/s horizontal_move_z: 5 # safe travel height between probe points mesh_min: -107, -107 # X_min, Y_min (probe area start; avoid edges) mesh_max: 107, 107 # X_max, Y_max (220mm bed minus 10mm safe margin) probe_count: 7, 7 # 7 points along X, 7 points along Y → 49 total fade_start: 1.0 # height where mesh starts to fade fade_end: 10.0 # height where mesh fully fades fade_target: 0.0 # target Z at max fade mesh_pps: 3,3 algorithm: bicubic # interpolation algorithm (optional)

Hm... Fade does end at 10mm, so the odd filament color change seems to start at the fade end.

#

I still think something here is messed up.

#

I also have no idea why it's reporting -2.505 in the center, because I calibrated the z-offset and printed a perfectly smooth layer across the entire bed.

#

So something is causing a value ot be weird on the firmware.

#

It might be the fade target set to 0, not the mesh average.

#

It then adds that height on layer ten, leading to walls moving inwards since the filament layer is stretching.

#

I'll try commenting that out and see what happens.

Bump

Removing the fade target fixed it.
