#Toying with an idea of battleship bath toys

I was watching Das Boot when taking a bath the other day when a thought crossed my mind. Ships float because they're hollow, and 3d prints are pretty much always that, mostly hollow. Now, printing floating ships is cool and all, but what about battleships?

So, I made a test model today, calculated how much volume it should displace if it stays at the waterline (3 cm^3), and therefore how heavy the print would have to be (3g exactly). I didn't bother much with details because this is a test print, but now that I see that it works, I might make a more detailed one, or even multiple ships like that which you could put on the water when taking a bath and have them casually float around haha. This one is exactly 10cm long

How are you managing the weight distribution so it doesn’t capsize

It's actually pretty stable

The bottom is done with 2 walls and 5% I fill, while the superstructures are just 1 wall

I imagine one could make it even more stable if the infill was removed entirely and the saved weight was compensated with extra bottom layers
