This is a prototype that I designed in FreeCAD. I dont think im going forward with the design.

Design goals were:

  • main body had to be one piece
  • needed to be comfortable in my lap
  • no supports
  • less than 24 hour print time

This was printed on a modified ender 5 plus.

The removable panel features an oled screen, I humored this being for sale product so I had designed it so the auxillary panel could be reused or changed based on features the user might want. It's sized to fit 3 22mm buttons. I ultimately decided it was not worth the cost and time it takes to produce one. (25 hour print at a .36 mm layerheight with a 0.6mm nozzle, 500+g of filament. Not including the detachable panel nor the bottom (closer to 600g)

This model also warped on one edge, but its not particularly visible.

@hazy sigil its a pi pico running gp2040-ce firmware!

the black bit is a tiny oled and does show what buttons are being pressed, its super cool and cheap if you already have all the parts to do your own wiring and solder. at least compared to a brooks

#

(doesnt have ps5 support and ps4 support is jank and you're not allowed to tell people how to get the keys to make a controller lol)

Great work with the start-to-finish design! The OLED is a nice touch, and you could even use it to display info other than the button presses if you wanted, but I'm sure you thought of that. Great project for street fighter 6

honestly the biggest things i learned
lofts are really powerful
parametric design is really powerful
never extrude anything as "new part" in freecad lol
