AI Help

It sounds like there may be an issue with your automatic bed leveling process. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. If it is not, update it to the latest version.

  2. Check the alignment of your printer's gantry. If it is not level, it can cause issues with bed leveling.

  3. Check your sensor's wiring. Make sure it is connected firmly and securely to the printer.

  4. Check your sensor's distance from the bed. If it is too close or too far, it may not be able to detect the bed surface properly.

If none of these steps solve the issue, you may need to contact the manufacturer or seek assistance from a 3D printing community forum or online support group for further troubleshooting.

this looks like you're running an sv06+ firmware on the sv06, tbh

#

just to explain what's supposed to happen here : it should test 5 spots that are closer to one another

#

instead it's testing a X = 0 ish (the start) then moving to half the bed, then increasing to the end of the bed, then trying to go further away as if it was going to reach 30cm in total

#

either that or the motors are turning way too much

#

try to just home it, then via the screen tell it to move 10mm to the right, then 10mm to the back

#

see if it moves by 10mm or more

#

then it's either a dud or they put the wrong firmware on there

#

it was already not working as soon as you opened it, right?

#

yeah I reckon it's best to not bother and just ask amazon to send a replacement printer

#

:|

#

don't ask for a refund cause then, well as you said the price went up

#

?

#

oh nah

#

that just tells the printer how far the sensor (the blue tube thingy) is far away from the nozzle

#

try the movement thing tho, there should be a menu that just says move

#

I wanna see if it's the microsteps being out of whack, with it moving double the distance it should

#

So both axes are fine

#

only thing I can think of here is the wrong size of bed was written in the firmware, which.... how even

#

that looked like 1cm long movements to me

#

hard to gauge without reference

#

ah you said 13

#

trying to find if it's a common issue on the fb group

#

check the belt tension on the X axis

#

if you "strum" on the belt is it tight?

#

this knob is what's used to tighten it :

You could try asking sovol, maybe they just stupidly made a mistake with the firmware.
For reference the distance moved between two points is determined by the firmware.
And from what i could see on the fb group, people just run a third party firmware anyway to avoid issues... Can't search easily let alone link it cause I'm on mobile

I mean sure, that would fix it but that's like taking a bazooka to kill a fly.
I do not recommend anyone install klipper without having used the printer a few days, usually. Although it's easy to install on commercial printers.

#

Octoprint is irrelevant tho

#

At the very least it does not look like an issue with motions parts from what i can see.
I can't remember the exact commands to check it from a PC

#

M503

Ah that one, try sending that from a pc using pronterface or whatever software you might have used for flashing the printer.
If you have not used it, then download pronterface, connect the printer to your pc and use the app to connect, then type m503 in the console

#

That will return a bunch of settings of the firmware

#

Bleh reception in the metro is ass lol

I'm glad you fixed it, sorry I couldn't stick around, but hey, looks like it was the X steps as I said :D

#

it's not e-steps btw, just for the record. e-steps refer to the E motor, which is the extruder.
