Is this where I should be now?
For the Left shift you want to check these two points for anything out of the ordinary
- red is the hall sensors (what detect the switch magnet)
- Green is the Mutiplexer (where the sensors connects to)
So I can pull off the thing on the back that shows me where everything is?
Yes that is a pet tape mod (helps with sound) you can reapply it once you are dojne
Yea
but can't hurt to try and clean it off with IPA or Distilled water and a soft brush (tooth brush would work)
if lucky only that residue is causing the issues worst case the sensor is damaged and would require soldering on a replacement (and possible capacitor)
What do I put on the brush? Or just nothing
IPA isopropyl alcohol
or
distilled water
Tap Water could also work but this tends to have substances so not really recommended
