The Wootility claims I need firmware updates, and yes everything is up to date in the Wootility app (aside from the keyboard). I already checked for any contact problems, inside the keyboard or outside. When I click on update I get the first error, as seen in the first image. If I connect my keyboard to the computer while pressing the top right and bottom right buttons they light up, the computer sees it, but once I click on reset and update it shows the second error message, as seen in the second image. I genuinely have no clue how to follow up on it so any feedback is appreciated!

Bootloader error indicate that no device is detected in "wooting restore" mode
From the mention that the keyboard is in this mode from the "Blue" light looks like wootility or the system can't detect the device
Best to check what windows sees and how the keyboard is connected
-
how is the keyboard detected
if the keyboard is connected to a USB hub or KVM try connecting this directly and preform a restore again -
Checking how it is detected
while the keyboard is in "Wooting restore" mode go to
Device manger
Select "View"
Select "Device by container"
look for a device called "Wooting restore" and expand the device tree
Take a picture of the results
wish to see if the drivers are correclty assigned
Thank you for the quick answer! I checked the device manager and wooting restore does not appear
can you take a picture of the entire page
unplug the keyboard
Check the image if any entrie is gone
( i think the device is not detected correctly as a result wootility can't see it)
This is now when it's plugged in
If i connect it back without reset mode it sees the keyboard
Now i connected it in restore mode again, and it can't see it
well that is a bit odd.... no device or error for wooting restore....
:(
can you try connecting the keyboard to anouther USB port
you can also try this guide to flush/remove all drivers/registery files assaited with wooting products and restart to see if the system will proerply detect and assign the drivers
Ho ho! I connected it to a different one, and now it shows this:
:( nothing is working for me today hahaha
ok that indicate that something is connected but can't communicate correctly
witch is strange as "Wooting restore" use USB-Full speed to send/recive data witch is pretty stable
in comparison if you have the stock 8000hz setting on the keyboard it uses "USB Hi-speed" witchis less stable so if there was a port/cable issue it would show up in normal mode Alot easyer
uhhhhh..... well i gotta fix that later
what could this mean to me? should I try more ports maybe?
ok i can't fix that (server is down)
hey ive seen this before
ill leave this to andrew to do their thing tho since mine was with a different keyboard not the wooting
I dont have a usb c port in my pc so i cant connect it directly directly
please tell me you have good news
While possible the adapter could add issues with commication would still be strange that the keybaord works fine in normal mode while in restore mode it dosnt....
For now you may want to try another PC to preform the restore to see if this is limited to the current device
uhh mine was literally unplugging everything and uninstalling the device and replugging multiple times but it was on a different keyboard
not sure if "turning it on and off" like that is the fix here tho...
okay ill check with my laptop, ill get back to you as soon as i can
hahaha alright, im glad urs works now at least :D
For reference, that error usually occurs when the keyboard is connected and the system detects a device, then requests the “device descriptor” to identify what it is and which drivers to assign so it can function correctly.
In this case, the connection fails, which can indicate:
- The Data+ or Data− line is disconnected
- The data path is experiencing high data loss
- The device is not functioning correctly
(this is why i find it strange that it works normaly)
Question:
If you plug the USB-C cable in upside down, does the behavior change from:
- Error
to - No detection?
When I do it on laptop the screen isn't big enough for the app so I did it from the browser. It asks me for permission each time to connect that device (because it's in the browser ofc) and I can select the device when it's normal, but once I click update it loads a bit then asks me for permission wants again for a hidden device but none show up
welll.... huh...... can you send a ticket may be somthing wrong with the memory sector (even then that is a strecth...)
let me see, one second
on which side, the usb c that i plug into the keyboard or the pc?
the keyboard side
(this is a long shot)
yeah i sent a ticket yesterday, haven't heard back since so next stop is Monday it seems like
ohh in that case can DM or post your order number here and i can find the ticket and respond
already had your ticket open it looks like 🙂
was going to reply once i (thought) i could quick resolve the disccord post...
Writeing this up just to check have you tried anouther USB-C cable?
Not yet. One second
It doesn't change anything :/
normally still works, recovery doesn't
Thanks (sending reply)
Ohhh 2am forgot... can you also reply to the email with the keyboard serial number
- this can be found underneath case labeled "S/N A02Bxxx" or in wootility top left
I replied with the serial number
and btw thank you for your quick and in depth responses, once this is all done id like to commend u if thats possible
well i do like the idea of getting a medal 🙂
for the test here is fine
for the options best to do that in the email
ahh in that case it has the production firmware
not much we can do in that case to test other funections
Ah okay... I think I'll go with return and replacement then
ill write it in the email
Thanks once replied i will hand you over to returns team (as it is currently 2am Saturday i assume will take till Monday onwards for a reply)
I'm guessing it's alright if I keep the keycaps and only send back the keyboard (because it was ISO and forgot to buy them together, I ordered it in a seperate order number
Yea that is fine for return/replacement easy to just send back the affacted item than the entire order
Thank you, I sent the response email :)
