FR: per-application (foreground) volume control

I really appreciate the small additions this background service brings.
Most keyboards generally allow you to control the overall Windows volume by assigning the standard multimedia controls, which is already possible through Wootility remapping.

However, there is still something missing, and I don’t think I’m the only one who runs into this issue: for people who use dedicated audio DACs, the overall Windows volume is usually not very useful.
In fact, it’s often more practical to adjust the volume on a per-application basis (cause the general volume control in windows has no effect in this situations)

Obviously, this wouldn’t be feasible through Wootility Web alone, but with a background service in place, do you think it would be possible to implement per-application volume control? Something that can turn up and down the volume of the foreground application only.

And if knobs are added in the future, this extra feature would become a real killer feature, at least for everyone using DACs that require volume adjustments for individual apps.

This is indeed something I would like to look into adding

Thanks for the suggestion :)

Right now I rely on WIN+G (game bar) to adjust the app volume sliders, it's the easiest way without running 3rd party softwares.

But I remember time ago I was using something like Volume2 (https://github.com/irzyxa/Volume2): pretty good, I was able to assign keyboard shortcuts/mouse gestures.
A more common software is also EarTrumpet (https://github.com/File-New-Project/EarTrumpet), but it's a just a GUI for quick sliders, it does pretty much the same as the xbox game bar

Thank you.

i think the main worry/challenge for us would be cross os functionality

You are right: windows mixer, pulseaudio/pipewire, and macOS, will require different ways to inject foreground app volume adjustments.
But please explore its feasibility, especially if you're about to release the knobs, it makes perfect sense and adds a lot of value to the hardware

i think thats what diogo plans to do.
