Someone is selling a damaged 60 HE V2 PCB to me after getting a replacement from Wooting. However if I wanted to use this V2 PCB I would need a plate kit that includes the FR4 plate friction pad and foam etc. Wooting does not yet sell a kit like this for the V2 PCB and on their website the V1 plate kit for sale states that its not compatible with the V2 PCB.
After contacting customer support about acquiring a plate kit for the V2 PCB I got told " We do not sell parts separately. " Is this PCB just supposed to become E waste then ? The only problem with the board, is one of the HE sensors broke off from the user.
Please Wooting update the plate kit on the website for the V2 or someone point me in the direction of a ISO plate for the V2 PCB.
Your customer support literally told me to come on discord for advice.

You can commission v2 compatible plate here https://hypekeyboards.ca/, plate files are available on Wooting's github
We only provide/sell spareparts for existing orders under and out of warranty. You'll have to get your friend to help you move your ownership over, if you need a replacement plate that fits the Module. 🙂
What is the process of doing that ? Why is it so complicated to just order spare parts.
We don't produce parts to sell them on the open market. Asking customers to prove ownership is pretty industry standard.
If you choose to sell or give away your Wooting keyboard, the new owner may wish to access the Wooting Hub for support and warranty assistance. Caution: Wooting
Also you didn't specify this was for a replacement in your support ticket, just that you wanted to buy a plate. 🙂
Yes but if they transfer ownership, then they won’t be the owner of the board that you replaced them with ?
There is 2 functional boards in this scenario
And there should be one. Your friend abused warranty by choosing to sell the module to you, instead of either shipping it back to us, if we asked for it, or disposing of it responsibly.
We can't help you. But Shafie's suggestion is still an option.
The seller told me that it wasn’t covered by warranty because the damage was caused by the owner. So the pcb was sold at a discount to the owner.
And how am I supposed to get the friction fit pad. Even if I do get a custom plate
That is an excellent question - And something for you to find out as an owner of a product that shouldn't still exist so to speak. 🙂
You‘re technically not a customer of wooting, so that’s none of their business
So because 1 switch on a pcb is broken I should just throw it in the trash.
If that is what support told the owner who reached out to warranty? Yes. Yes they should have.
Why????? It’s literally fully functional besides that and is so easy to repair
Because that's how warranty works. You reach out with a defect, we replace parts or the board - and require you to ship back the defective product, unless it is prohibitively expensive, and instead ask you to dispose of it properly.
And do you not think that it’s un ethical to throw away electronics. When they can be used by others who know how to fix it or don’t care about a minor defect?
The moral thing is to return it to us, so we can refurbish it - Unless the cost of doing so outweighs the value and cost of shipping and work involved.
The seller was never asked to dispose of the board
You gave the option to either repair the pcb or buy a new one. The customer opted for the new pcb. So now we have a pcb that is pretty much fully functional and I’m just supposed to throw it away because u won’t sell me a plate kit for like £20
Just order a custom plate from Hypekeyboards and friction fit pad from Wooting. Just keep in mind, the v1 friction fit pad isn't exactly the same as the v2, so you may need to modify it yourself to make it fully compatible with the v2 PCB and plate.
Sure if you don’t factor in import tax
There is no local custom plate manufacturer in my country anymore
And then I would have a V1 plate that is completely useless to me after buy your V1 kit just to get a friction pad
Friction fit pad doesn't come with the plate. https://wooting.io/product/friction-fit-pad
Check KeyBox on AliExpress, it should be cheaper for you compared to Hypekeyboards. You need to message them on Ali, send them 60HE v2 plate file and tell them your preferred plate material.
But why can’t I just buy the parts from wooting 😂
Please read the messages above.
Ok then what if the original customer requested this instead of me
They broke the plate and friction pad somehow would u sell a replacement?
Also the messages above state that the pcb was asked to be disposed of, this isnt the case ?
