#60HE+ ISO DE German layout in wootility doesn't match in Linux/CachyOS (KDE Plasms 6.5.5)

Yeah pretty much what I wrote in the title, the thing is I've got a 60HE+ and the wootility web version (installed as app through brave) displays my layout as a US ANSI layout which is not correct for my phyiscal and real layout. I've attached a screenshot please don't be confused about the german language 😅

Nonetheless It really becomes a issue in certain games especially where the "y" and "z" key's do not match in terms of (in the US ANSI layout they're swapped compared to the ISO DE layout) the input I do. If I wanna press the "z" key or letter for example I now then press the "y" letter instead when I'm playing a game like cyberpunk2077 (gog version on HGL with proton-cachyos-slr variant if that matters). For some odd reason in KDE Plasma even if I don't set a specific language layout in the keyboard settings section the "y" key that I press on the keyboard matches the german ISO DE "y" and this is also applicable to the "z" letter/key.

Any help and tips I get I fully appreciate and thanks in advance guys 🙂

Is your Brave privacy shield enabled? It blocks Wootility's ability to read the system keyboard language, thus resulting in it displaying incorrectly.

Yes it was until now and I've disabled it and wootility still shows me the ANSI layout instead the german ISO DE.

Did you restart it?

cosmic magnet
#

yes twice, I am maybe gonna restart my system instead to be fully save? xD

That or your Linux distro has some unique challenges - That is unfortunately beyond my wheelbarrow, but we do have some Linux users who might know more.

cosmic magnet
#

hopefully, but I've just restarted and made sure the privacy shiel is fully disabled and wootility still shows me the ANSI layout 🙁

#

lol I've just tried in google chrome instead and there wootility shows me the correct ISO DE layout and not the USI ANSI layout. I might then need to tweak the privacy settings of brave then xD

These are the ones that block it iirc. Under fingerprinting.

cosmic magnet

so basically I need to disable brave block fingerprinting right?

#

Yeah I found the solution basically if you allow or set it in brave to enabled to block fingerprinting the keyboard layout will be shown incorrectly as ANSI Layout to me at least. Unfortunately I can not set different sub settings for the block fingerprinting setting in brave so I have to keep it fully disabled as a hole. And I appreciate your help 🙂

also just a small correctiong it shows you the US keymap for ISO instead of German for ISO (no ANSI involved here at all)

#

you can ofc always install Wootility locally if you want

Oh I thought it was also called ANSI but to be honest I have not that much knowledge about the differences of different keyboard layouts tho.

And yes I know that I could install it seperately as a standalone but I do prefer the webversion insteasd, feels lighter to me and since I moved away from windows I prefer as less apps and programs on my system as possible (if that makes sense xD) due to the entire bloatware that microsoft forced to install and therefore a more performing os to have instead.

totally understandable. and to note on ANSI VS ISO its just the physical key layout not what the characters output. thats what the keyboard layout (keymap) in the OS is responsible for

#

but you can use german keymaps on ANSI and US keymaps on ISO etc

Ah yes, that makes sense. Learned again something new, really interesting I really didn't think about the abvious lol. thank you 🙂

for example if you really want to get into custom keycaps (and dont care about the letters printed on them) you can buy ANSI, set your OS to german keyboard layout and then somehow remap the 1 key you list (because the left shift got longer) to somewhere on the FN layer.

Of course a lot of people dont do this because they care about the print on the keycaps and well most german keycaps (maybe even all) you can buy as sets are ISO
