The... the what now?
Right now there is only aluminum. I would like to buy one with plastic but would like to know when this is expected to be released.
The 2HE does not have other cases, nor are any planned.
It has an ABS bottom case, and a metal switch plate.
id also be interested in what gave you the idea the two he has an aluminum case
Ah sorry, I meant the switch plate.
why would anyone make an ABS plastic switch plate
most switch plates are either steel, polycarbonate or carbon fibre
Something non-metallic would be nice.
im somewhat certain we wont release anything for the 2he in terms of aftermarket parts as the only people whod buy it would be wooting customers as its not interchangeable with any other fullsize keyboard. that plus you being the first person (or one of like single digit numbers of people) to ask would mean wed have to order thousands and sell like 10.
Plate files are available on github. You can commission 2HE compatible plate on HypeKeyboards
if our lord and savior calder ever decides the 2he deserves a refresh then it would prob be the only time this may happen but god only knows how many years we wait for calder to send us 2he enjoyers some love
do they do bent topplates?
Has the aluminium plate any impact on the sound of the keyboard?
My only concerncs are the sound and that it could feel a little cold.
doesnt feel cold and the 2he has so many more issues other than the topplate for sound
like mounting, no sandwhich foam, somewhat sparse bottom case foam
They might if you ask them, but I'm not sure
and you can get the 2he to be quiet with the included plate. people did so even on the wooting one by filling the bottom case better with other materials, lubing switches, putting switch films in, custom cutting sandwhich foams and putting foam pads below the switches on the pcb
well "quiet" in the sense of as quiet as it will prob get
Sounds like this could be above my tinkering skills
i wouldnt recommend the wooting 2he for modding tbh. it doesnt lend itself well to it due to how its constructed
btw the videos and images of the post are long gone but it mentions some of the mods
I think if your concern is the sound, you should consider swapping the switches. It will make the biggest difference, and it's also easy to do, all you need is a switch and keycap puller
You can also get an aftermarket foam sandwich pad for a full size keyboard, modify it so it fits perfectly in the 2HE
id sya yeah switches prob make the biggest difference
and there is silent he switches if you can live with the bottom out feeling soft (cause of how silent switches work)
I heard some sound reviews for the Gateron Silent Black INK v2 and liked them.
But, I buy the Wooting for their switches...
keep in mind that it wont sound exactly like that for you if you get them. your setup, room and keyboard are different.
I mean, makes it any sense to change the switches to something not wooting? I thought I would loose a lot of features
its not about wooting its about HE
also ink v2 is 5pin not HE
so they wouldnt work
(HE = hall effect)
any HE switch should work in our keyboards (except a few exceptions due to magnet orientation)
As long as you get compatible hall effect switches, you won't lose any functionality. Switches are just magnets moving up and down. The PCBA has all the features.
Check out Wooting's switch database and listen to the sound tests here https://link.wooting.io/soundtests. It won't sound exactly the same in your 2HE as it does in the videos, but it'll be about 80% there. Most of the switches will be a big improvement over Lekker v1s, both in sound and in how they feel.
