Alright I don't even fully know how this happened. I was trying to enable snap tap last night and so I was changing profiles yesterday on the beta web wootility site and also messing around in the app version. At some point I realised I needed to update my Wootility (which was not on V5 at the time) so I did so, and then I believe my keyboard stopped working. (I wish I remembered fully what I did but I wasn't paying attention so I'm not super sure what fully caused it...)
I believe it's some software issue where it doesn't recognise it properly or as a keyboard at all?
When I plug in/out the USB I hear the connect and disconnect sound but when I go to initialise the device in browser or software nothing shows up, and obviously keyboard doesnt work or light up
-
I have tried multiple browsers (Chrome, Opera)
-
Fully uninstalled and reinstalled the Wootility software and updated to V5
-
Tried a few USB ports, directly into motherboard, no hubs or anything
-
Tried a different cable entirely, nothing changed
-
Checked device manager, I don't see any WootingOne device or unknown keyboard devices, only 3 HID Keyboard Device drivers (I have tried uninstalling those and restarting and it changes nothing. I also uninstalled all the hidden greyed out ones as well.) The only other thing I see is my old BlackWidow's hidden greyed out drivers but I dont believe those should be an issue?
-
Checked the Human Interface Device Service is running and startup type is automatic in Win+R services.msc area
-
I did try the 'reset' function? that I saw online, where you hold top right and bottom right buttons when plugging it in but nothing happens, no blue lights
This last one is maybe important because I see a Wooting Restore device in other devices in windows setting, however it has 'Setup incomplete because of a metered connection'
I also see an HID Keyboard Device there too with the same message too. I tried removing them both and restarting but that did nothing. I'm not sure if my attempt to reset worked but I'm doing something wrong?
I'm on Windows 10 64bit if that is any help.
I did try plugging it into an old PC on windows 7 and it detects it as an unrecognised device there but I basically had the same issues, it just doesnt seem to recognise it as a keyboard, I didnt bother a ton because I thought old OS might just be more trouble also
I'm not sure if I explained everything super well, I'm not too tech savvy but any help would be appreciated, I feel like I've tried everything 😭
