Hi, I ordered a Tenz keyboard and I love it, but I'm not sure about the amount of RGB i'm seeing through the keycaps/board so im not sure if i want to keep it. I already have a Wooting 60HE. With the keycaps of the 60HE, is it possible that the Tenz one now sounds like the 80HE? I tried it, but i cant tell anymore if i hear a difference or if its placebo effect (I kinda prefer the regular 80HE one after hearing that sound test on the website but im not sure how accurate the sound tests are as my 60HE sounded way different than the soundtest of the 60HE on the website) and at this point, should i not just get the regular 80HE? Is it modded too? I know the Tenz one is modded but does the 80HE come modded too (just different)? If so, why should I keep the tenz one over a regular 80HE or is the 60HE still just as good and should i not bother with a new keyboard at all? I like Tenz, i was actively watching his pro matches but the real reason I bought this keyboard is because it was modded and i dont want to mod my keyboard myself cause ive never tried it nor planning to (lazy).

Hello, I have the 80HE. What I can tell you is that the sound test on the website sounds very loud compared to the actual keyboard. I love the sound of it tho (: TenZ use different switches than the 80HE so I’m expecting they sound slightly different, but performance wise they remain very similar. It’s really about ur preferences of the look and sound.
Overall the 60HE is a very good keyboard and the polling rate (that’s better on the 80HE) don’t make a huge difference on the actual performance of the keyboard. The 80% layout could make a big difference, as I said really depending on your preferences.
I switched from the 60HE to the 80HE because I preferred the layout and really felt limited without the function row.
I've also ordered the Tenz 80HE now because I'm a sucker 😛
I'll compare the Tenz to the regular 80HE when it arrives 🙂
(I imagine it won't be hugely different though, but the feel should be a bit different due to the lighter springs, FR4 plate and the modded space bar)
That’s gonna be a great comparison to do
The performance between the boards is very minimal and borderline not noticable. The sound on the other hand is very much different. I don't have the normal 80HE, but I do have the 60HE+ and this is the comparison between the 2 for anyone wondering
Used a Shure SM7B mic with same settings and distance on both keyboard for best comparison
So far I'm very satisfied with the 80HE Tenz version. I like the typing experience with the springs they've used on this and also the sound is great out of the box imo.
RGB bleed through at 70% brightness (already brighter than i'd like to use myself)
And RGB bleed through at 100%
With the transparent case and RGB at 100% it wont really even reflect off my hand, so you'll only see the light if you're eye level with the side of the case.
thank you SO much, ive asked my question too in the wooting80HE channel and the wooting staff was so rude because i didnt use enter between my questions and they said it was unreadable. this really ruined my experience. i was sent here by customer support of wooting through email. im just not really good at writing. im glad none of you seemed to have an issue with how i wrote my questions
thank you for the sound test!! the tenz one sounds so much better!! im really curious too about the soundtest between the 80HE and the tenz one. cant wait for that. will you post that here once you have it done? @quartz remnant
if you want, feel free to add me as a friend if you think thats easier, to send me the sound test later. im not sure how long this channel would be open for
this is disappointing i think. i love rgb, and id have loved to see some light coming from the sides, cause whats the point of a transluscent case otherwise? 😅
thank you for the pictures!!
Here's the side at 100%
But from top view, even if i turn off the lights in my room it won’t show.
@cedar oxide But if you're ordering a 80HE (coming from the 60HE) I'd still recommend the 80HE Tenz board since it has the FR4 plate and imo really nice switches for pretty much the same price as the standard 80HE
The translucent case is more of an extra detail, also meant to not distract while playing
Yes, I feel you could get a better look with a custom translucent case (:
Yes and as someone with the 80HE, I love this keyboard but you can get slightly better with the Tenz (if you like the sound and translucent case) + the Tenz is a limited edition and might be cooler for a gaming setup
Yea, the difference is def not gonna blow anyone away, so either one will be good.
But for the extra 20$ might aswell go for the limited edition haha
yeah, true!
im not even sure at this point. I have the first 60HE
not even sure why i want to upgrade, i didnt want to in the first place but the Tenz one made me want to impulse buy, and only afterwards i started to think about everything xd
i dont really need the extra keys, but also dont mind to have them so 60% or 80% both are fine to me, idk what else would be the point to buy an 80HE when you already have a 60HE
Yes you just need to go with your preferences, if it’s for an upgrade in performance I woudnt bother changing keyboards as they are very similar. On the other hand, if it’s for the look and the layout Tenz slightly better. You can always mod your 60HE to have the same feeling, case and sounds tho (;
I also come from the first 60HE too and aside from the sound being a lot better imo, there's not a noticeable performance gain for the price
I am also very much used to 60% and if you've used it long enough you'll know your way around the "missing keys"
Have not yet used any of the F keys, but the new row (print screen, insert, del and others) are nice to rebind to change profile for example
yeah same!!
what would i need to buy to make it sound the same or at least close to it?
to get that same type of feeling/sound?
Which version of the 60HE do you own ? V2 or + ?
By knowing that I could help you better, but for starter :
The very first one. That wasn’t a + nor V2. I believe the + is almost the same
Is changing the switches enough?
I have the regular 80HE Zinc with standard Tikken switches that I purchased separately and some thicker NicePBT keycaps that deepened the sound as well.
I know fully well the performance between the two is identical. I haven't used the TenZ much yet, but from the limited amount I've used it, I already know I like the sound and feel of the lighter switches in it more than my standard (slightly modified) 80HE.
I will probably get an FR4 plate for my standard 80HE to see if that is enough to make the sound about the same. But I do get some finger fatigue with the available Tikken's sold on Wooting's website. RGB brightness seems to be the same between the two.
What color are the switches ?
So basically if i purchase similar switches, i know the Tenz ones aren’t available separate but id buy just something similar, a plate and foam for spacebar? Then it would sound close to the Tenz one?
I guess also lube?
Lets say for about 100 euro i can make my 60HE sound close to the Tenz one?
In terms of sound, yes. Feel, kind of.
Idk how much 100 euros is in dollar but yes I think !
The similar ones would be the Lekker Tikken, they are available through individual purchase
What makes it feel like that? Just the lighter switches?
personally what im doing is buying the tenz keyboard then replacing my 60he with the tenz switches
That’s the best idea but I find €240 for switches too much, like I want it but in my head I can’t agree with this
For myself ^
Euros aren't much more than US dollar. Its roughly the same.
The TenZ switches are lighter than the regular Tikkens, yes.
15gf doesn't seem like a lot, but 10gf difference in some switches to be considered the difference between a light and heavy switch.
I get it
So basically, if I don’t care for the size of the keyboard (im perfectly fine with 60 but I’d also be just as perfectly fine with an 80) then I should just stick to my 60HE and try to mod it for €100? Or at that point is it worth to spend €140 more to then have the 80HE with better performance? But I guess its also not big enough of a difference performance wise?
The performance difference is negligible. You honestly probably wouldn't tell a difference in response time between the two in almost every game.
And then my next problem, if I do sell/return the Tenz one, and try and mod my 60HE, and it doesn’t sound/feel as nice/good, then the Tenz one is probably sold out by then and I can’t buy that anymore either 🤣😅
I overthink this so much
Yes exactly
Yes, the TenZ is limited release, once its sold through, you won't be able to get it again.
Probably since it’s in a limited amount, part of the modding is really to find something you like, might be even better than TenZ feeling wise
I didn't need the TenZ. I've been perfectly happy with my 80HE Zinc. One of the reasons I bought the TenZ because it was limited. If it was an unending product, I probably would have passed on it.
How do you like the Zinc case ? Is it worth it ?
and for that reason, to one day resell it once you'd get a new keyboard again or just because its a cool "collectors" item?
I have a few hobbies, collecting/building keyboards is one of them. Probably the least expensive one too.
I've known about Wooting for a while, didn't buy my first one until December. For pre-built, I'm thorougly impressed.
Kind of over building them at this point though. Buying switches and keycaps is expensive. Just a set of basic PBT keycaps of decent quality can cost over $100.
A set of 90 switches gets close to that as well depending on them as well.
That’s valid it’s a very collector type of keyboard
Last keyboard I built was the Neo80 Cu. The keyboard alone was $250. Doesn't come assembled, or with switches or keycaps.
In the grand scheme, I'm much happier with the 80HE, with less hassle, and actually cheaper and better performance.
Frl its a banger, I love mine
hm, cause to be honest im now on the edge of just building my own keyboard while keeping the 60HE module. so i'd buy a case (maybe) and then the FR4 plate (which i cant find anywhere here in the netherlands so far) and then switches and keycaps and then thats all, right? but as far as im seeing this would cost me about 100 euro but reading your comments only the keycaps can already cost that
I honestly don't know what it would cost you. I don't know how much more or less you would have to pay than if I did it. My circumstance with ordering stuff is different from most Americans as well as I can't order anything directly from China due to my wife's job.
