I got the new wooting 60he V2 and i updated it, switched to all different usb ports on my pc, also disabled power management on device manager for all usb ports, and also factory reset the keyb on wootility. the profile I customize is always in the top row (as shown on picture) but everytime I reboot my pc the keyb settings and profiles are back to factory settings. help plsss idk what else to do the keyboard is a week old at most!

are you sure you moved the profile to the keyboard and into the default slot
yes, one profile and set as default.
fullscreenshot please
so if you unplug the keyboard now. and plug it back in are the profiles gone?
No, if the computer is on and I disconnect the cable and connect it again, the profile stays... but if I turn the computer off and on after 10/20 minutes, I have to set everything up again.
that makes no sense
you didnt get any errors when setting it up like in the screenshot?
No, the keyboard works fine overall.
It's just that all my settings reset when I turn the computer back on.
I've tried everything I can think of, and I don't know what to do about it because it's a bit, if not very, annoying.
Has no one ever had it like me?
because the settings are stored on the keyboard it would be the same if you remove the keyboards power aka unplug it. turning the pc off and unplugging is the same to the keyboard where profiles are stored
hence it makes no sense that turning the PC off has a different result than remove the keyboards usb cable/disconnecting the keyboard
the flow is:
- You start Wootility
- Wootility asks your keyboard for the up to 4 onboard profiles
- You change settings or not
- You save any changes you may have done
- Wootility sends the up to 4 onboard profiles to the keyboard when you save them
maybe @rigid crypt has any ideas. to me it makes no sense
If you want 30 seconds between unplugging and plugging it back in does it also reset?
I haven't seen this before, might be an issue with the flash hardware or something
I disconnected the USB from the back of the computer and connected it after 3 minutes and the settings are mine.
but if I turn off the computer and wait 10/20 minutes, the settings return to default.
can you disconnect the keyboard from usb for the same time? so 20minutes or so and then reconnect it?
a wootility log might be useful as well
Oh, the same thing again, I turned off the computer for a moment and after rgb I see that the settings are default
and setting it up again
I have now disconnected the USB with the computer on, I will wait 10 minutes
after waiting and reconnecting the USB, the settings do not return to default xD
are you using the app or the website?
But when I restart the computer instead of turning it off completely, the settings load.
I did it on the website and on the app and even on another version 5.2.1
Keyboard replacement? I just feel it won't help either xd
given that this is the first time we heard about it, its likely that its prob just a fault keyboard. im unsure why replacing it wouldnt help
How can I return / exchange it? Because I'll probably be without a keyboard for a month now...
Maybe I'll connect it to my brother's laptop and see?
that would also be a possibility to check
then youd know if its the keyboard or pc somehow
I reset the keyboards, set them up again, connected them to the laptop, turned off the laptop and waited 10 minutes and after turning on the laptop, the settings were saved normally.. I think my problem is just a question?
I connected it to my turned off computer, started it and it immediately reset the settings
as in
- connected to laptop to set up
- disconnect from laptop
- connect to powered off pc
- disconnect from still powered off pc
- connect to laptop and see its reset
that what you did?
1 I connected it to my laptop.
2.I set new settings on web.
3. I saved and turned off the laptop
4.after turning on the laptop, the settings were saved
i meant the new message you sent here
after disconnecting it from the laptop and connecting it to my computer which was turned off... when I turned it on, the settings were reset
can you screenshot what wootility shows when the settings were reset?
like the profile list
I have no clue what's going on, maybe a log would help
I'm fed up too, it's a shame about the keyboard
We discussed this a bit and it seems like a hardware issue. You should contact support and mention these issues
@hard pine fyi
Well, I have to say, it's a really strange situation.
who what who when
i dm'd you on slack, sorry :p
read the thread anouther case like this.....
I tried to write to him but he didn't reply
I wonder if he fixed it
i don’t think they sent a Discord post (this was from a ticket a month ago). They resolved this by changing a BIOS setting related to USB.
The only thing is that no BIOS setting should cause this, so the solution they performed did not make any sense they never replyed back so the invisgation was pretty much at a standstill with out more detail.
As a question, do you know when the profile resets in the startup process? If not sure, you can:
- Set the default profile RGB to all red
this way the keyboard should show red on startup
- Restart the system
- Watch the keyboard to see if it turns red in BIOS, when leaving BIOS, at Windows login, etc
When I restart my computer, the settings are saved. But if I turn it off completely and then turn it back on, the settings are reset.
so the first thing you see is the reset colours?
No, after restarting the computer, the colors only appear in the login window.
do you have signalrgb or any other rgb controlling app?
I have a Lexar RGB, I disabled this application at startup, it didn't help either
something you could try is the following:
- change settings to something different from default
- unplug and plug it in very quickly, does it reset or does it stay?
- unplug, wait a longer time like 10-20mins, and see if it resets then
It's possible that the time it takes to replug makes it reset or not
I can record a video of what it looks like. I'll probably reset after about a minute.
I had the BIOS done, maybe something is disabled there?
a video would be helpful
hmm?
well, it was too big and I had to use the link
Yea that is strang somthing happens between bios and the pc start up that is causing the keyboard to revert the profile to default
These are nice but it would be quite helpful to know if it still happens if you do not turn off the pc
just unplug, wait a few minutes, plug back in and see if it resets
what we want to rule out is the flash chip being faulty and losing data when it is unpowered for too long
Leave the computer on, disconnect the keyboard cable and wait 10 minutes?
I'll set it up and do it
thank you
After disconnecting the cable from the keyboard and connecting it again, the settings did not reset
have you made any change to bios to your system in the past for instance USB settings?
I had my computer optimized, it's possible that something was changed
Hmm, this feels like it has a lot of parallels to the other case where they modified some BIOS USB settings in the past, received the keyboard, and then had issues
usb power state S% HAS to be enabled, I had it disabled one time for one older device.
S% i assume is S5
But I am pretty hesitant about making changes to the BIOS if you are not familiar with it, and you do so at your own risk
(these days it is very hard to damage anything through BIOS settings without getting warnings, but just in case).
but can't hurt to check if that is enabled or disabled
normally that is enabled by default if i recall correctly (but pretty fuzzy been awhile on PC bios)
@rigid crypt
maybe our keyboards don't like having this disabled?
I can turn it on and check
sure.
(sorry delays jumping back and forth on tickets/discord not the best multitasker)
@lilac flint Could you share the profile code you used in the video?
I'll share it in a moment, I'll just check this bios
Bios didn't help, I waited 5 minutes and they were already reset after turning on the computer
b3a6ded72eee9b4e6e8bc4a423b2023e6252
did you upload the updates for me?
I shared the Video files on slack as we have a few people on this case (some may not prefear discord)
I understand, because I just got the 5.3.0 beta update
Can somebody please help my ticket? "Just bought this following picture, and I am wondering how it is coming to me and is this a kboard?"
for these type of cases we tend to make and release a Test build first and direct people to download them instead of a beta build that is pushed to everyone
I just entered the program to set the keyboard and an update popped up
For reference Test builds require manually download the firmware
https://beta.wootility.io/?test-builds=true witch requires using a link that has ?Test-builds=true enabled
as we are still on the stage of trying to figure out what is causing the issue unlikly we have a test build readdy
sure cant hurt 🙂
okay, I downloaded it
doing the same for 6 keyboards.
hmm?? like for 6 keyboards
i troubleshoot keyboards so nice to have one of each model near
From the patch notes, this was meant to address aspects related to calibration and switch selectors, with no mention of anything that could be related to your issue, so it is very unlikely to change the current issue
I understand, I guess there's nothing we can do at the moment
So what should I do? Should I return it and wait for an update? Do you have any ideas? @hard pine
A summary of this
Issue:
When the system is restarts with the keyboard connected, the keyboard profiles/save settings are reset.
Timeline of Issue:
- System restarts
- Keyboard is off
- BIOS loads
- Keyboard turns on and shows custom profile
- System leaves BIOS
- Keyboard turns off (normal)
- Operating system loads
- Keyboard turns on with default profile
Notes:
- The system has custom BIOS settings
- This issue does not occur when power-cycled normally (unplugging the device)
- Power has been fully drained during testing (no change)
- Keyboard restore/update has been performed
Theory:
Based on these points, this appears to be a system-specific issue rather than a hardware fault. During the transition from BIOS to the operating system, the keyboard seems to reset to default profiles. A replacement keyboard may exhibit the same behavior.
Test:
Do you have another device you can try the keyboard on and restart it to check if this is limited to your system?
Everything's fine, except now...
The person who optimized my computer did the same thing on the same system and with the same components. I have everything disabled, and I have the same issues as that person... that person also has a Wooting 60HE v2, and everything works fine for them.
Besides, before optimizing my computer, I had the same issue: settings weren't saving. Maybe the cable is the problem with the keyboard?
I briefly tested my brother's keyboard. I connected it to my laptop, set everything up as I had it, turned the laptop off, and turned it back on after 10 minutes. The settings saved. @hard pine
What do you think about the test: disconnect the keyboard before turning off the computer, turn off the computer, wait 10 minutes, turn on the computer but connect the keyboard only when logging in? @hard pine
-
To check the "everything's fine" part: is the keyboard not resetting back to the stock/default settings when it’s connected and the system restarts?
-
Brother’s keyboard: is this a Wooting keyboard? If so, what model?
-
Test: the most ideal test is to connect the keyboard to another device and restart the system to see if you can replicate the problem.
I mean, my friend has the same system as me, the same hardware and a Wooting 60he v2 keyboard... he had his computer optimized the same way as me, so if he had something disabled in the BIOS, it probably shouldn't have saved his settings either... @hard pine
I'll connect the keyboard to my brother's laptop soon and check it a few times.
I reset the BIOS settings and restarted the computer twice, and the settings saved. I also shut down the computer twice, each time for 10 minutes, and the settings saved. I'll see how it works tomorrow morning after I turn it off overnight.
Nice looks like the issue is resolved
I'll see tomorrow when the computer is turned off all night to see if it's for sure.
id really love to know what bios setting would cause this tbh
Hey. Just after the whole night I turned on the default BIOS settings and the keyboard reset
drat
Here's the situation... I connected the keyboard to my brother's laptop three times and turned it on for 10 minutes each time, and each time the settings saved.... I also left the keyboard connected for an hour, and the settings saved too. I disconnected the keyboard, connected it to my computer, and turned it on, and the settings loaded.... but if I turn it off and on again after 20 minutes, the settings will probably reset. The default BIOS doesn't help, so what else could it be?
Yea, it is strange. Some type of unique characteristic of your system, maybe hardware-related, is causing the keyboard to react negatively and reset the profiles.
The troublesome part is figuring out how to replicate this on our side so we can understand the problem as we would need to use special tools to see what is being sent to the keyboard during boot, determine the cause, and, if possible, develop a test build to see if it can be fixed.
I will try to disconnect it before turning off the computer and connect it after 10/15 minutes and only then turn on the computer.
To note, the earlier request to wait 10 minutes before powering the keyboard was to ensure the power was fully drained, as this can take a awhile due to the capacitor.
This was mainly to check for any difference between a power cycle by unplugging the device for a few seconds versus a restart, which may take longer and give more time to drain.
Since this issue is limited to the device and only occurs when the keyboard is connected during boot, you don’t need to wait long gaps for each test.
The computer is turned on.
I disconnected the keyboard from the back USB port for 10/15 minutes, reconnected it, and the keyboard works normally; the settings were saved.
I restarted the computer, and the settings loaded and saved.
I disconnected the keyboard, restarted the computer, and the settings saved.
But if I turn the computer off and on again after 10/15 minutes, they reset.
Yesterday, I disconnected the keyboard from the computer before turning it off. I didn't connect it until the next day, and only after I had logged into the desktop, did it load my settings...
Tonight, I connected it, left it overnight, turned on the computer, and it immediately reset the settings.
strange to check
before you made changes to bios etc did the reset happen 100% of the time or randomly like now?
I made default changes in the entire bios, turned off the computer and turned it on and the default settings on the keyboard
This is mainly to check how frequently the profile was set before these changes.
i want to see if any actions taken may have influenced the issue or if we are back to the starting point.
I reset the bios to default settings, turned on the computer and set the keyboard, turned the computer off and on and the settings were reset.
I tried my previous Ace 60 Pro keyboard on the same USB port, and the settings are saved there.
I don't expect other keyboards to react the same as this may be unuqie factor to the microcontroller or the firmware (really hard to say)
also Looks like their is a third case

@lilac flint
- If I understood you right, the Wooting settings are reset every time the keyboard is connected while the system boots. So please confirm if that is the case for a reboot / restart as well as a normal start after a regular shutdown.
- If I understood you right, the settings remain if you replug the device when the OS is loaded.
If these points apply it would be good to know at which point the reset occurs. For example to change the default profile and directly boot in the UEFI BIOS to see if the keyboard works (as it should) and if the settings are reset at this point already.
You can directly boot into the BIOS on Win via this command: shutdown -r -fw -t 0
They left the server I think
