Because Windows is dumb probably. Media keys have always been a bit hit or miss.
Could try restarting and see if they work then. And make sure the app you're using has them enabled.
How did you set them up @pine fossil ? Works for me and I'm using it a lot. Did you remap them by draging the icon from where it used to be? I remember I messed something up the first time, by not changing it in the right FN layer or something.
Are those just some specific, like song skip, or do you have a problem with all? Even volume?
hi mate, remapped my equals key to skip song/media
only one ive used but it just doesnt work
did you drag and drop it from where it used to be?
onto the key
make sure you remap it in FN layer, don't put it on the main layer. I think this is what I messed up the first time
is that maybe the case?
Any key should work just fine on any layer.
I've had media keys bound to the base layer of my UwU for years.
A note: the keyboard has drivers for different functions and features.
Example:
- Keyboard output typing (W, A, S, D, etc)
- Gamepad (if enabled)
- Wootility communication
- Media controls (play, pause, stop, next, previous track, audio, etc)
- etc
(1)
if only only key is affected it could be software attempting to read the state of this key causing a conflict IE (VLC + Spotify both checking the key state causing only one to receive the input)
(2)
If ALL media keys are not responding, I assume Windows did not assign the drivers correctly for media controls and you will need to remove the drivers and force the system to reassign them.
(Note: if reassigning drivers does not resolve this, then it is highly likely the system or software is interfering with the assignment process. This is sometimes common if you have installed software that changes or modifies the default Windows drivers, for example Zadig. Finding the root cause can be a bit challenging and it may be easier to manually assign the driver.)
(image example of the drivers assigned)
Media control uses the driver: HID-compliant consumer controller device

Sometimes even after following this guide Issue - Wootility doesn't detect the Wooting the Wootility still can not detect the keyboard, this can be because of d
