I just pulled my wooting out of storage (about 2 months), and it wasnt turning on. I've followed all restore steps, I got the top and bottom blue lights to show, but wootility isnt detecting it. Support said I should be finding a "Wooting Restore" device, but my computer isnt finding it, and that's where I'm stuck.

The blue LED indicates the keyboard is in Wooting restore mode but not detected by the system, which means that

  • The keyboard is working (power and ground are connected)
  • But no data is being received or sent from the keyboard

This can mean that out of the four lines that need to be connected (power, ground, data +, data -), the data lines are not connected

If you have tried

  • A different USB port
  • A different USB-C cable

It is likely the internal JST cable has come loose, and you will need to open up the keyboard and reseat or press in the connector to resolve the problem

Sometimes, you may need to fully disassemble your keyboard, whether it's to swap out stabilizers or replace components due to a defect. In this video, we'll guide you through the process.

(also dosnt hurt to check the internals of the USB-C port maybe it has dust?)

Would that matter?

It shouldn’t.
(In the unlikely situation that a USB-A connection resolves the issue, then there would be a problem with a one or two resistor on the daughterboard that determines data + / - but that is unlikely.)

Okay, I’ll take a look at it when I’m more awake, terrified to fuck something up so expensive. It honestly just baffles me that such an expensive keyboard can’t just be plugged in to use, even if some internal software is having issues, im using a travel laptop and happen to get my hands back onto my keyboard and mouse.

yea sorry about that the JST cable is something we are working on to make it more secure to prevent this situation.

for reference this is the part i believe that has come loose

@verbal wharf Update (finally). Took my keyboard to a friends house to begin a giant list of troubleshooting steps I had made, anx when plugged into their computer it worked! Perfectly!
Though come back to my laptop, it wont work. So the odd one out now is this windows laptop. Is there maybe a driver im missing?

#

I wana reiterate that it’s the computer itself: power IS being sent to the keyboard as the restore mode lights do turn on.

#

Yet I cannot restore the keyboard because “Wooting Restore” isnt in bluetooth connects or any of my other detected devices.
