I received the Wooting 60HE v2 Module just in time before the New Year. I quickly assembled the PCB into the case, installed the switches and keycaps so I could experience everything in its most basic form, without replacing or tuning anything yet. Below is my review:
The Lekker Tikken Medium switches have a very interesting sound profile, it's warm and crisp without being overly sharp. Combined with the 8kHz polling rate from the PCB, they provide excellent tactile feedback when I tested them in Valorant. The downside is that I’m not very accustomed to the 54g bottom-out spring force, so my fingers got tired quickly when spamming movement keys and the crouch key. As a solution, I swapped out three of the most frequently used switches for 40g bottom-out switches. This significantly reduced finger fatigue while maintaining similar performance.
On the PCB, Wooting’s stabilizers are very good, with no wobble or ticking at either end. However, because there is a PET film underneath, one side of the stabilizer produces a plastic contact noise when bottoming out. I plan to fix this after spending more time with the board. The LEDs are extremely bright at 100%, so I find 20% brightness more than enough and visually pleasing.
Overall, compared to the previous version (+), version 2 has been improved across the board. I’m very satisfied with this v2.
