#Can we get a split Wooting 80He to rival the Falcata

I've been using the Wooting 60 since its release. Love it. However, I tend to type on an ergodox split keyboard.

I saw the Asus ROG Falcata and thought it was the best in between of both and I love what it is functionally, but there so many cut corners on the product and the gearlink site is a nightmare compared to wootility. The changes dont go through 50% of the time. It's frustrating.

Can we do an interest check or something?

Let's make it wireless (both sides wireless, two dongles instead of one to make connecting easier)

Magnetic silicone wrist wrests, magnetic feet to adjust tenting.

Magnetic halfs so its sturdier when put together.

Nice media/multi function wheel

Full aluminum or Plastic option.

Would love a little typing bounce but I believe you guys said that may be an issue with HE switches (not the most up to date on this though)

Am I the only one interested in this? Let me know

Oh, if we're wishing for unrealistic stuff, it totally needs to hover a few mm in air too, so we can use it as a hoverboard when not typing

All of these magnetic things are likely to cause issues with a keyboard that is full of sensors that detect magnetic flux variation. The 60HE v2 wrist rest attaches using no magnets currently for a good reason.

I agree that wooting should invest in a split hall effect modular module solution.

I dunno about the magnetic features you suggest in your post. Screw on plastic raisers, or the clip in rubber raisers found with the Alumaze60, are probably best.

I used to want a split KB setup, and I had a KB to test it out too. It seems good in theory, but it's hugely diminishing returns for gaming. You don't need the left half/side of a KB so far center because then your left hand is reaching the other way. 60% KBs already keep your left hand in a good position so I don't even see the benefit of being able to remove the right half.

If it's about the tenting and stuff for an ergonomic route, that's possible, but I still think it's overrated. You kinda need flat keyboards for the best gaming experience.

For me it's about the shoulder and arm ergonomics and it makes a huge difference, to the point where I really want an ergodox layout with hall effect switches and would buy three.

When I set up my ergodox keyboard, I put the right half over towards the mouse far enough that it's basically where the numpad on a 100% keyboard is, and it makes a real difference for my shoulder and back strain.

I've been maining the ROG Falcata for sometime now, and if it's showed me anything, it's that you do not need all keys on a (80%) keyboard for a good chunk of competitive titles. Especially competitive shooters.

Maybe the case changes for fighting games, rhythm games, RTS, and MOBAS,
but a split keyboard would allow those players to have the option of better ergonomics.

A Wooting 80SplitHE would have the same benefits for competitive shooters as the 60HE, but you get even more mouse real estate and an added function row. You stated, "You don't need the left half/side of a KB so far center because then your left hand is reaching the other way," but orientation does not matter. An 80SplitHE would be beneficial because this would allow the user to place the keyboard closer to the body's midline.

There are medical journals that back the fact the body has improved motor coordination when motor groups are in closer proximity to each other and the midline. See the following articles:

If the right half floating in the middle of a mousepad/desk-space is a problem,
you can disconnect the right half or Wooting innovate on what ROG could not do with the Falcata: provide a longer/better link solution.

Wooting has set the standard. Not only in terms of modularity and software, but for eSports periphrieals.
They can set the standard again, but in terms of ergonomics,
by creating the Wooting 80SplitHE.

Sorry for the late response. I've been enjoying break and getting back to schoo.
Hopefully the Wooting team sees this.
Enjoy the read!

I think I know what you're saying. The left side of the KB would be brought to the right, all the way flush against the mousepad. Then you shift your midline/chair to the right and you'd have more mouse space and still have access to the left side of the KB for all main FPS (and some other games) functions. This is a good point. Grinding FPS games for many hours might benefit from that extra mouse space and direct access to the important keys (as long as you're not typing at all, lol).

I will add though, that function row could be even more important in that case, because lots of games still utilize some part of the right side of KB (like inventory/skill tree/friends list/guild etc). So getting a few extra keys on that left side detached KB is a win. I had to plug the function row, so much usable vertical space there! Not everyone cares about portability which is partially why the 60HE exists, to fit into smaller spaces.

I'd love an 75HE split that has the same horizontal length of the 60HE (don't really need dedicated arrows extending the length). There is definitely cool innovation possible here and lots of directions Wooting can go. 😄
