#Do you really NEED the stand off screws?

I bought the KY60 case off Amazon and it didn't include any stand-off screws, only regular screws. Do I really need stand-off screws or can I use something else like regular screws or protection stickers that are included in the Wooting 60he V2 module.

Required screws and poron sandwich pad for tray mount are included with the 60HE v2.
Try friction fitting first. If that case isn't compatible with the v2 friction fit pad, then screw the module into the case using included pad and screws.

If I do need them, could you tell me where to find them?

You see those screws on the top right? You use them to screw the module in the case.

but the stand off screws for the case? like the gold ones

#

I know i need to screw the keyboard in but there are gold ones in videos that are called stand off screws

#

or can i just use the silicone protection stickers they give me in the pack

#

because they say I need a brass stand off for the hole near the space bar

you need to post photos of what you mean. We can't tell what you're describing without it because none of us own the ky60 case

#

if you're friction fitting you don't need to use any screws typically. You should use the protection stickers and potentially grab some standoff covers to be safe if they didn't provide those (https://kbdfans.com/products/kbdfans-standoff-silicone-cover)

Do I buy one off amazon if there wasnt a screw included?

If you bought the module there should be a small plastic bag that has tray mount screws.

Whether you choose to do it is up to you - it’s recommended for grounding and something we do with our newer keyboards for the 0.1% chance of a static shock through the pcb shocking something and breaking the keyboard, but we are aware that most other brands don’t do this and the chance is very low. Just be aware it’s not covered under warranty if anything does happen.

It’s just in general. Kind of like how some computer makers wear static shock wristbands to ground when building computers and some don’t worry about it

turbid eagle
#

Alright. Thank you so much

turbid eagle

Those are for screwing in so no you don’t use those unless you need to screw something in

#

Your v2 module has built in standoffs now too, if you see the plastic grey bumper things on the bottom of your pcb

tiny patrol
#

Is your case sitting correctly at the bottom of the case in friction fit without anything poking into the pcb?

#

As long as nothing is weirdly poking into your pcb then you should be good.

turbid eagle
tiny patrol
#

oh if you're not friction fitting then you screw those 4 into the 4 tray mount locations

#

but you need to swap the internal layer of your module then

turbid eagle
#

the four brass screws>

turbid eagle
#

I need to screw in the screws right>

tiny patrol
#

okay yeah then you just screw in the 4 gold bits in the 4 locations to match the standoffs

#

then the 4 tray mount screws into them through the pcb holes

turbid eagle
#

The thing is the case didn't come with stand offs. Do I need to buy some then?

tiny patrol
#

?

turbid eagle
#

It didn't come with the gold bits

tiny patrol
#

are there not 4 holes to screw in?

turbid eagle
tiny patrol
#

yeah but what does the case come with

turbid eagle
#

only regular screws

#

like philips head screws

tiny patrol
#

you already have the standoffs poking out don't you?

#

if you do then you don't need the golden screws

#

the golden screws are standoffs

turbid eagle
#

yeah

tiny patrol
#

i think your cloned holy doesn't even have removable standoffs

turbid eagle
#

Do I need to buy them?

tiny patrol
#

no

#

you have standoffs already

#

the gold things are standoffs

#

you don't need more standoffs

turbid eagle
#

should i send you a picture of the cloned holy?

tiny patrol
#

you should just post a photo here yes, but i assume it already has standoffs

#

and you don't need to do anything other than just screw it in

#

did you buy the standoff covers?

turbid eagle
#

I didn't buy the silicone covers yet. I have the 10 protection stickers included in the module pack

tiny patrol
#

then put the stickers over the standoffs you aren't using

#

the danger with 3rd party cases like this is basically they have extra random standoffs in the middle that poke into pcb and break your keyboard

#

it's why we don't guarantee compatibility with all of these random clone 3rd party cases that are cheaply made

turbid eagle
tiny patrol
#

are those standoffs able to be screwed off or are they attached permanently

turbid eagle
#

attached

tiny patrol
#

okay then just make sure the extra ones in the middle are not poking anything important in your pcb

#

since the case is see through you should be able to see

turbid eagle
#

I dont need the gold stand off screws or I need them?

tiny patrol
#

no

#

those don't do anything for you

turbid eagle
#

alright

#

so put the protection stickers on all the stand offs that are pre installed?

tiny patrol
#

i have no idea what the protection stickers are honestly

turbid eagle
#

oh alr

tiny patrol
#

you'll need to post photos of everything you're describing

#

a lot of these things aren't standard because you bought a clone case

turbid eagle
#

it says the module includes : 10x silicone stand-off protection stickers

tiny patrol
#

photos please

#

i assume they're just little pads or something but i'm just assuming because we don't own this case

#

doesn't this case have an instruction video or something?

#

The bottom line is all we can do is say you should watch out and make sure the extra standoffs aren't poking into your pcb and breaking something

#

that's how keyboards break. If they aren't hitting or rubbing something then you're usually good

turbid eagle
#

alright

#

these

tiny patrol
#

i assume they just go over all the standoffs
