I recently signed up for the preorder campaign for the 60HE v2. Im starting to second guess myself on whether it was worth it since im seeing so many people and videos talking about TMR switch keyboards for half the price and perform the same if not better. Please correct me if I am wrong or am missing any important details cuz I'm pretty new to this whole discussion. Im curious as to hear what others think about how this would put up against a TMR switch keyboard like the Monsgeek Fun60
#Is the Wooting 60 HE V2 worth it?

This fun60? (Second from the bottom)
the 60hev2 will perform somewhere at/above the 80he in that graph
also for a rant about why tmr is overrated (timestamped to start at the right spot) https://www.youtube.com/live/YQTeLQ665cc?si=g7y5k87SZ4BBL6fc&t=1366

i also have to stress that a lot of those super cheap HE/TMR boards are basically cutting all corners they can just to have you spend money on their device and not another. they dont really care about customer retention or long term support of devices.
our favorite example is the wooting one which released in 2017 and gets firmware updates to this day and has lived through all wootility major versions from the "you had to install" v1-v3 up until the "browser and install version" with v4 and v5.
We dont want to make ewaste but keyboards that last as long as they can including firmware. if the hardware can do it we try to make it happen.
theres also some other points community members like. for example the 4 year warranty (except leds those are 2yrs), the afformentioned software support, software quality in general, our general willingness to provide spare parts and 3d design files, our acceptance of people modding the device and not just blanket voiding warranty because you swapped the case for example (the warranty one is quite nuanced of course but generally speaking thats what would happen).
of course take what i said with a grain of salt as i am paid by wooting and work for them.
LMAO, thank you, that gave me a good laugh.
Thank you for this. It gives me a lot more confidence that what I'm buying isn't just some random tech but also well put together software and support.
Quick question. There seems to be two Wooting 80s in the picture. One at 7th place from the top and one closer to the bottom. Is there a typo or a difference in specs?
the top is 8khz the bottom 1khz mode
idk if the bottom is also without tachyon or not
could also be both 8khz and top is tachyon enabled and bottom is just disabled. i sadly dont read enough chinese?/japanese? for this
some trying to get google translate to do it later:
top is tachyon enabled 8khz
bottom is tachyon disabled (still dont know if 1 or 8khz cause it just says normal)
Gotcha, thanks so much!
@rough prawn sorry to bother but you see how there are 2 different bars for each one? what one is what?
Blue is latency from when the key is pressed and orange is latency when the key is released
So blue is when the key is registered as an input and orange when it registers that key as being released
ah okay thank you
60he v2 is a well built product from a reliable manufacturer who not only cares about their customers but also their products, but i will say, 8k might be over kill for some pc systems. You need a good pc to handle this products since it will utilize lots of power and processing power. If you plugs this products with lets say 650 walt power supply every other products connected to the pc will turn off. So you might require high end power supply.
this is true for mice but it's not for keyboards. The PC/game doesn't see anything different regardless of 8k or 1k it receives key presses and release events unlike mice which constantly send movement data. Also the power output of a usb 2.0 peripheral is about 2.5watts so you're not in danger of needing a new power supply
