wooting 60he v2 (first time building, need help!)

hi, i might sound a lil crazy but i’ve never built a keyboard before and i’m planning to gift a wooting build for christmas.

i’m only getting the v2 module from wooting, but aside from the module, what else do i need to get? aside from tools (still unsure what specific tools), case, keycaps, and switches.

if anyone has a tutorial video, guide, or tips they can share, that would be awesome. thanks!

magnetic switches compatible with our pcb, whatever keycaps you want in the same physical layout as you bought so ansi or iso and with split spacebar if you chose split.
and for case you can prob use any gh60/dz60 case but might need to screw in the module and cant friction fit mount it in some cases or need to screw in 1 screw if its a metal case that doesnt have a grounding sponge
so at worst a ph1 screwdriver
if its friction fit compatible you need 0 tools except your hand(s) (more than 1 is optional)

thank you tony! i’m thinking of the gateron magnetic jade switches and the tofu60 refux with the wooting 60he v2, and from my understanding, that should work right? 😅

yes

although im not sure if you might need 1 screw to ground the pcb to the case

mainly depends on if they include one of those thin wire mesh sponges to ground it that way or not

Just curious, why Jades and not Lekker Tikkens? You’ll save around $35 and get better switches.

Haha all good. Yeah, I'd recommend getting Lekker Tikkens instead of Jades, because they're very cheap with the 60HE v2 module and they sound/feel great.

LEDs are mounted on the PCB, so yes. Just make sure to put the switches north facing.

Yeah, FBB keycaps are very good for the price.

You can add a brass weight, it will make the keyboard sound cleaner and less hollow.
