It’s got an integrated plate so afaik it’s not swappable.
so like what do you recommend because i don't really want to spend like 160 on the 60% so i can just customise it
im tryna change the case and keycaps mainly
Keycaps and switches you can swap. But I’m pretty sure there’s no aftermarket cases. If you have a cnc, I think there may be files for your own case on their GitHub (https://github.com/WootingKb/wooting-design) to make your own case. But otherwise, yeah you’d want to just go with the 60 or 80.
The two isn’t “customization friendly.” Depending on demand, they’re likely going to work on a new 100% to replace the two since it’ll be the oldest model (if they don’t just make a numpad to use with the 60 or 80).
hoenstly i can work with a 80 without a numpad
the main factor was using the "*" considering i use it a lot on after effects
or a 60
but saying all of that i have had it for like 2 -3 years already i dont think they will help cus its out of warrenty
I personally use an 80HE. Other than the arrow keys and F1-12, I don’t really use the extra keys it offers over a 60. Could always just rebind whatever keys if you’re all that concerned
Are you needing to warranty something?
no its like idk if they will like work with me if i wanted to replace it with the 60 or 80
Yeah no you’d need to just buy
so generally speaking fullsize keyboards often arent constructed in a way where you just get some premade case that fits all fullsize boards or something. they always would be for that 1 specific model of keyboard. We sadly arent planning on a 100HE refresh currently and havent announced anything the likes either (I wish we did cause i love fullsize boards).
The best you can do is get a 60% if you want ultimate customizability or if you wanna keep some fullsize stuff like F-Row and such get an 80HE (it has case options just not a lot).
For accessing * directly you can just map numpad multiply whereever you want or on an FN layer so you dont need to shift+whatever in your keyboard language.
oh on the topic of 2HE cases there was a german company that tried to look into customer interest for an Aluminum case and they estimated the price at 300-400eur per case.
okay i think what im gonna do is hang on to this keyboard for like a couple of months and then get the 60 he
yeah
60% definitely has the broadest aftermarket for cases, plates and such
and id recommend in that case to get a v2
so you just get the free perf upgrade
8khz polling capability, new sandwhich pad construction for nicer sound, better tape mod preapplied, pet film below switches and split/no split options
split spacebar*
split keyboard is smth else
oh yeah i meant "space bar" oops
the v2 is meant to be an even easier entry to modding keyboards
the aluminum variant also doesnt have a fixed loop hole anymore for a strap but can be without any strap holders (you just unscrew 2 small screws and can exchange it)
or you just go directly with just buying a module and a case you like plus the switches/keycaps you want
so like wit the slit space bar it doesnt really matter with the key caps does it?
like the switch is in the same place?
theres 3 switches and a normal spacebar doesnt fit on it
so youd need to invest a tiny bit of looking into the keycaps you wanna get if they have included extra caps for split spacebars
hmmm
ofc you can just get the no split version and use it like any other 60%
Oh there is a no split version, i would probably have to get that because i don't want to complicated considering i aint customised a keyboard before
and idk on the keycaps yet
A lot of people with split spacebars like to bind one of the keys to interact on games so they can continue to have full directional control when doing something like reviving a teammate.
(Just an example)
thats the idea. you can chose what youre comfortable with
ohhhhh i see
In theory you could have the whole thing as space but just taking up multiple keys. But for custom binds and stuff in game, the more keys to use, the merrier.
well that is still nice but like yeah i think that is plan tho i appriciate the help thooo cus i been like thinking about it for a while now
