hey guys,
i’m planning to get a wooting 80HE soon but got a few questions 👀

is it possible to get it pre-assembled with lekker tikken switches, or do i have to buy everything separately (like case, modules, switches, etc)?

also heard the v1 black zinc case had some issues — anyone know when v2 is coming out?
and if i go for the white version, does it have any issues too?

thanks in advance 🙏

Hey! Update on my part ahah
I had a raw zinc (slightly different coating than b/w zinc iirc) and after a few months (got in november, contacted support end of august) for some paint kinda scratching off. It seems that it was the acidity of the sweat.
as of rn, it's been a month with the new version they sent me (opted for white v2 because v2 raw was a long way (though, black was available I believe)

#

I can't tell you I see much difference, it's too early to say that sweat doesn't affect my keyboard, but I can at least vouch for the first month of pretty exhaustive usage (7-10 hours a day almost every day)

#

The coating of the v1 on any version wasn't exactly up to the sweat standard I believe, so you're likely to face issue after some time. However, I believe this is covered by Wooting (like it was on my end, but I pre-ordered it, they had not made a statement by then)

#

As for having a pre-built, you should be able to see on the website directly what options they gave you. Personally, I bought it all on separate piece (loved to build it) and it also led me to understand better a few things about keyboard. But if it that ain't your boat, don't do it ahah

#

Ik it doesn't fully answer you, but if you have more questions but don't really know where to ask, it'll be my pleasure to answer :]

I bought lube and did not need it (they already come pre-lubed)

#

As for the tool set.. you need a screwdriver (medium-small) for the case in itself, and that's about it. You press de switch into the pcb, and then the keycaps onto the switch, no tools required for that

#

I do not remember if I bought tool set.. I know I have stuff that came with the keyboard (switch and keycap remover + one small screwdriver iirc)

#

But I don't remember if it's a side buy or if it comes with it by default
