hiya… yeah. i was already having an issue or two with my keyboard (never found out if it was software or hardware,, my fault for not reaching out to support, BUT-) i spilt monster on the right side of it ! awesome ! i immediately unplugged it and began disassembling it… and am a little confused.
okay first off this was a wooting 80he module that i put together with a raw zinc case, so if theres noticable oddities thats probably why. i am humbly asking for help on various seemingly silly questions i may have, as i just want to get this thing recovered as much as i possibly can. this has happened with another keyboard before (maybe got a problem there…) and i handled it terribly. i dont want my keyboard to die.

onto the question : why are the screws just. not coming out. i attached a picture with which im referring to. the screws on the back of the case came out fine- is my screwdriver the problem? the uhh… random hyper tough (i hate these brand names bro) mini screwdriver ive got here… not sure. i for one do not know how to tell what type my screwdriver is, i apparently need a philips ph1 which im assuming this is because the back screws came out ok?? im very uhhh… mechanically challenged? if thats how one would could say it?

i apologize that this message is undeniably jumbled and hard to read, i just would appreciate any tips or any questions i just want heellpp !!

my first and only guess is that these screws need a different type of screwdriver (again no idea how to tell……) seperate from that one i am currently using. i will update once/if i am able to get the screws out,, i would rlly appreciate any tips and/or recovery how-to,, like how to minimize the damage here. i’m not sure what i should be worrying about and trying to get cleansed.

You‘ll want a ph0 screwdriver/bit to unscrew easily

The screws are PH1 though.

#

Apply a bit more pressure. Be sure to watch the disassembly video on our YT channel.

Maybe the tip of the screwdriver is a little messed up, that can make things more difficult sometimes, but usually applying a bit more pressure so it doesn‘t slip is enough just like mansen said

#

You already did the most important thing tho, unplugging right away and at least it‘s upside down now so if there‘s any loose liquid it can just drip off

#

Once you‘re done with disassembly i‘d also check the case foam, maybe that absorbed some of the liquid and obviously clean up the switches, pcb etc to make sure nothing can corrode or gets sticky

i rlly appreciate all of this i cant put it into words right now (probably because im trying to. not have my keyboard explode) but thank you both 🫶🫶 i do want to keep this open for now though i will update

#

is it bad that my jst cable on the module wont come out? it came out just fine off the case but its not coming out on the module like the video

@loud cobalt did you manage to unscrew it? If not try a rubber band on top of the screw and with pressure unscrew it, the band will protect your screws from stripping as well as fill in any gaps and help to remove the screw

#

And I would use alcohol pads to clean up any messes

i have not, ive gathered a bit that does seem to fit and should work considering it says ph1 but it simply wont turn. the unmarked screws (on the above mentioned video) do turn, which i found out from acidentally turning one; but the marked screws will not budge and i dont want to strip them either.

Place the rubber band on top of the screw your trying to unscrew, place force on your screwdriver onto of the head of the screw and unscrew, let me try to find a video

there is not. a singular. not a globular rubber band in this household that i can find. applying more pressure does not help- i am not sure what to do. it feels like im doing something horribly wrong but i really dont know what

#

theres also a few stripped screws which is certainly not helping. though i dont think thats the full issue here. i dont know what to do its rlly frustrating

this is trueee i dont mean to put pressure on anybody it is absolutely nobody’s obligation i am just looost 😭

#

how exactly would i go about reaching out to support? like,, on an email chain sorta thing, wouldnt it be kind of hard to diagnose here? i know theres like a “i spilt somethin on my keyboard” part of support but where do i go from there just… explain? this feels like an issue i could get help from in the real world from people smarter than at me at this stuff in the morning but i feel like leaving the keybosrd overnight is just. bad? im not sure,,

#

i could reach out to support in the morning if nobody has a clue what to do, it just seems like that as of now it’s purely my own incompetence to understand what im doing wrong

#

tldr; would it be ok for me to leave my board as it is overnight and get help in the morning?

#

i sound a lil more desperate than id like im just looking for a second opinion aghh
