Hey guys, I am e newbie when it comes to linux. I started using Linux just a few days ago and now I wanna use wootility on my browser (Brave). After I clicked on initialise a device the software basically tells me, that I have to set up those 'udev' rules.

I have to admit, that I struggle a lot and it first looks everything really complicated for me, but I am willing to learn on how to set the udev rules up. Therefore I kindly ask if someone could help me out and tech me how do I set everything up correctly.

I also want to say that I use cachyos which is based on arch linux and the keyboard I am using is the 60HE+

also given you use brave you will most likely have to tweak the browser config as well to allow webhid access as brave likes to have it disabled

yeah it should walk you through all the steps

i might add some example commands following the assumed example names of the guide to make it easier for people who never dealt with linux and commandlines before

Sorry for the dump question, since it is not clear stated on the page, do I need to create the '70-wooting.rules' file inside the terminal or via an empty file on the desktop for example and copy those extension with a text editor into the empty file? This confuses me a little bit right now

how you create the file doesnt matter. what matters is the file has the name of the format specified, is in the right folder and has the right content

#

so 70-wooting.rules in the folder /etc/udev/rules.d/ with the content shown in the article

#

if you make the file on the desktop first, put the content in and then move it to the folder or however else doesnt matter
