There's a foam.
How thick is the foam? Would changing it to some other type mute the high pitch 'ping" noise? I've been using a Steelseries Apex Pro Gen 3, and the sound is much more muted and pleasant.
Any suggestions at all?
Could try asking in #🔧│keyboard_modding , but I'd recommend keeping it as flat as it is now. The PCB needs to breathe.
Thanks anyway Mansen. I love a ton about it. The software is so much better than Steelseries it isn't even funny. Every key HE instead of only the main area of the board. Better warranty, etc. But it's just too loud... Hope you guys have a new version around the corner with more padding (and a media volume control!)
You can try getting third-party sandwich foam, like this. You might need to adjust it slightly to fit better.
If you end up getting it, be careful as it can affect accuracy.
You might be fine though, worth to try.
100percent has to cut holes in it for the stems that hold the topplate on
Appreciate the thought Shafie, thanks. But I hate having to think about modding a $200 keyboard... I just want the best feeling out of the box. (I'm no pro gamer, just a retired astrophysicst who enjoys gaming. As a physicist I love the Hall effect, heh.) Much obliged for your help too BigBrainAFK.
also in terms of quieting it: lubing all switches helps reduce noise quite a bit.
actually unsure if loudness goes down but perceived loudness does as the sound profiles goes into a more marble-y kind of sound
as to the OOBE for typing sound on the twoHE: that would only be addressed if we ever start planning a twoHE refresh/v2 or such. the way the twoHE is currently constructed doesnt lend itself to easy to do mods. the only mods you can easily do rn is rape modding and lubing switches really.
Maybe the V2 should be a Tunneling Magnetoresistance keyboard... 🙂
