#wooting gift for boyfriend

i'd like to gift my boyfriend the wooting 80he zinc alloy, since he is mostly on his pc for work and games. i'm very new to keyboards and i have no clue what any of this really means.. i was hoping for advice, as i'd like to personalize the gift as well! my current plan is to:

  1. buy the pre-assembled wooting 80he (zinc alloy)
  2. disassemble it, add lube, potentially add stabilizers, and lube everything??
  3. remove all keycaps and put in my own custom made ones

i draw as a hobby and i was thinking of drawing the keycaps to be space/sci-fi themed since those are his interests, to then commission a website (one of those custom keycap makers) to bring my drawing to life. is there a website that does this but makes it so that the drawings/letters & numbers are "see through" so the led colors can go through it while the rest of the keycap is black?

on that note, i'm unsure of what kind of keycaps would fit into the wooting board, i'd hate to buy keycaps that end up not fitting. what should the keycap material, profile, and print be?

any other suggestions for the keyboard itself (ie: modding) would be greatly appreciated too!! thanks for reading :D

if ur buying ur own keycaps anyways, the module should make more sense

i would recommend not replace the stabilizers and just use the stock one, buy some lube if u want to be safe

oh and if ur getting the module (very easy to assemble) i recommend the geon raws switches over the lekkers

Basically, prebuilt is all this built together (Case, Switches, Keycaps, Cable and the PCBA itself)

It's really cool that you want to do this for your boyfriend, and that you want to go the extra mile to make it really unique!

Shine through keycaps is a fairly complicated manufacturing process, unlikely to be the right choice if you are drawing your own custom design.

Consider instead of customizing the keycaps, to customize the case instead. If you get the white zinc case, the surface is textured in a way that I think would react well with paint. Plus if you customize the case instead of the keycaps, any wear and tear or grime on the keycaps over time isn't an issue.
