Have you ever considered making a Wooting ergo split keyboard?
I wanted to throw an idea out there that I think could benefit a small(?) part of the community. For those of us who are full-time software developers or just spend most of our work time typing.
I realize this is a bit of a niche request, but I believe there’s actually a pretty significant audience out there. Many in the dev community (or anyone who types a lot for work) could appreciate the ergonomic benefits of a split layout. I believe making an ergo split keyboard paired with wooting's software and analog input would be a great way to bring more people in, without having to make a sacrifice, whether it's form-factor, features or space.
Why an ergo split?
- Ergonomics: Reduced strain for long typing sessions (my wrists and shoulders would thank you).
- Single keyboard solution: I’d love to have just one keyboard on my desk, instead of switching between a “work” keyboard for comfort and productivity and a “gaming” keyboard for sweating and losing.
- Growing market: There are more and more split/ergonomic boards out there, but almost none feature hall-effect switches, and especially not with wooting's software capabilities.
I also totally understand that the ergo keyboard world is a whole new scene, with lots of different layouts and preferences. That definitely makes it tough to create something that works for everyone. But maybe there’s a middle ground or a layout that covers the most common needs.
