Hi Wooting team!
I’d like to propose creating an interactive quiz or tool that helps users figure out whether a split spacebar or a standard 6.25U layout better fits their typing habits especially for people who’ve never used a split spacebar before (like me!).
Personally, I’ve never tried split spacebars, but I find the concept really interesting.
When I try to imagine using one, I feel like my thumb might land somewhere between the 2.75U and 1.25U on the left but honestly, that’s just a guess.
Instead of asking direct questions like “Which thumb do you use for the spacebar?”, I think a deeper, psychology-inspired quiz with harder-to-predict questions (typing behavior, hand posture, fictional scenarios, etc.) could help users better understand themselves even uncover layout preferences they didn’t realize they had.
Why a quiz like this could really help:
-The 60HE V2 now offers both split and standard spacebar layouts.
For those unfamiliar with split, this is a big commitment — especially with no “off” option.
-Many users (especially those with only base GMK kits) don’t have extra keycaps to test reversed Shift or non-standard sizes.
-Even if a user favors their left thumb, hand size, keyboard angle, and posture all affect comfort. One solution doesn’t fit all.
-International returns are expensive, especially for customers outside the Netherlands.
-A quiz is low-cost for Wooting, and provides high insight for both customers and the team.
-It shows Wooting cares about user experience, helping users gain confidence in their decision, while reducing uncertainty and return rates.
-Most importantly: it empowers customers to understand themselves better, without putting all the pressure on them to guess what layout might work.
If this sounds interesting, I’d love to hear what you think!
