#FAQ commands

Personally I'm not a fan of the commands in the servers that have them they tend to clog up discussion when you can just link to the #🪛│modding_faq channel or provide the information needed instead of a channel bot posting a script that gets spammed through the channel 1000s of times
it’s either a bot posting a short, accurate explanation or a person. Linking the modding faq channel isn’t something people want I think, a bit too much to go through to find the answer.
You can link to the specific part of the faq #🪛│modding_faq message
Would just be worried about giant wall of texts after each command like this
A command linking that would be fine by me. I am not scrolling all the way through modding faq to find the explanation, then copy the message link and send it to someone. explaining everything again and again takes less time
Well, with search it isn’t terrible but a shorter explanation through command would be great for QoL.
It wouldn’t make #🪛│modding_faq obsolete either, people can still go there for thorough explanations.
This is something I suggested about a year or two ago, but either way it would be something I'd implement in a slightly different way in that the command would be limited to only specific people able to use it and it would link to the wooting modding resource once that's up and running
But yes, I'd like to clean up the modding section a bit once we have the wooting resource fully up and running as that's part of what wooting brought me on for
The main thing is you can't have open access to these types of commands because then it causes too much bot spam and limits actual interactions, but you can have short linked resource commands that are only available to specific people to use
Can commands be limited to specific channels?
If so, there’s no reason to limit who can use it in #🔧│keyboard_modding specifically. Those who use it to clutter the channel should get a warning obviously.
there are ways to do that yes. In the past i've limited usage of it to specific channels or even created a bot spam channel
That’s good!
It's possible but has been a pretty low priority. We already have a bot that could do it, but crafting the statements and commands is a bit more hassle.
Writing social@wooting.io triggers the bot currently

It’s a hassle but would seem worth it for the FAQ.
i would love to have something like this for the times of the year where lots of people come in and ask if there is gonna be a discount for black friday or similar, having a bot autoreply would be a lot more convenient than people having to manually say no every single time
I think an actual auto-reply would be too spammy. It’s better to let people decide when the appropriate time is for a bot/FAQ message. So something like a command.
