#80he update bricked the keyboard?

Hi all,
Recently updated the keyboard after a while, and now the keyboard has no input on some of the switches. All the rgb and profiles work with the keyboard being recognized on both web and app.

When pressing c it becomes cs, and other keys are like that as well.

I have tried to restore but both keys used for restore do not have any input.

I have a support ticket from the 29th and I have tried everything there, still waiting for the reply.

Is this a faulty update or is the board gone?

Was able to access restore (by figuring out which other key auto press the other and found fn activates right arrow and ins activates the ps) and followed all the steps but still nothing changed. Does this mean something shorted on the board? Still getting the same problem with some keys working some keys not working.

Did this start as soon as the update was done or a while after/before? No other changes done?

As soon as the update was done, try to search something on YouTube but the some key inputs didn’t work

#

The keyboard does not come up on device manager and only shows up as hid keyboard device as well, is this normal?

But if the update somehow did this then it's probably fixable, I've never heard of an update causing something like this tho

that is pretty strange — that would normally indicate a component failure such as the multiplexer, but the result on the analog monitor looks like a scanning logic issue, so most likely the firmware is corrupted or bad

you mention that the restore process fails can you inform me on this guide where it fails at ?

. 1. Unplug the keyboard
. 2. Hold the Top Right and Bottom right keys for the keyboard
. - 60HE: BackSpace + FN
. - 80HE: Pause + Right Arrow
. - Two HE: Mode + Numpad Enter
. 3. Plug the keyboard in
. 4. After 3 seconds let go of the keys
. 5. The keyboard should now be in "Wooting Restore" mode
. - 60HE / Two HE: The RGB should now be off
. - 80HE: The [Pause] and [Right Arrow] keys should show blue

. 6. Launch Wootility - either version the web/App) of this software will work for this https://wooting.io/wootility
. 7. Select “Try Out Wootility”
. 8. On the left, Select "Help"
. 9. Select your “Device”
. 10. Select your “Layout”
. 12. Press “Restore and reset device”

but watching the video further (maybe a bad mux) it is a wired case

I was able to get restore done and it did connect, have uploaded a video of it just now

just to check what are the other keys affacted

as this may be a Mux issue or one of the traces that controls the mux being cut/broken

#

this looks to be a broken trace/wire for either "S0,S1,S2,S3" not sure how this would happen from a update but at this point maybe just bad timing or the updated exposed a fault in the die random theroy

Damn that sucks

#

Did I just rma this? Or is there anything I can do on my end

this would most likly be a replacement Module to resolve - Also posted this case on the slack as well (kinda got distracted as this was interesting )

It may be because I hadn’t updated in a while, never bothered to open up the Wootility web browser or the app maybe in a couple of months, and decided oh I haven’t updated in a while and then updated

#

Could that maybe be related? As it was working completely fine before that

Try out a downgrade maybe?

loud wolf

that is very hard to say — this case is strange and there are a lot of possible causes or triggers which we would not know without performing tests to find the root cause

for reference, this is why I thought it was a broken S trace
are the 4 white lines when one is on changes the input/out depending on what is on/off in this case i signal from the micro controller is unresponsive

you can attempt to downgrade but not aware of any scanning changes

First of all, thanks for all the help, second of all, that’s super cool, I’m really curious how you learned all of this, and how would I learn this as well?

when i ordered my wooting two HE back in 2023 i joined the discord and started reading #1019755933959733258 threads

after awhile i learned the basics and was helping people in my spare time on the tread after doing this for over a year i was hired by wooting to do this full time

alot of this was me reading Rocky_4(DEU) explanations witch helped a lot and self teaching

that render above is something i made to help me show others how the keyboard works

if you have any questions feel free to ping me any time
