Switches stuck in 80HE plate (broke a few)

Hey all, hoping for some help. I just got my Wooting 80HE and installed Geon Raw HE switches. They went in fine, but now I’m trying to remove them and they’re completely stuck. I’ve tried 3 different switch pullers (including the Wooting one), and even disassembled the board down to just the plate and switches - still no luck.

I’ve attempted to remove multiple switches, but only 4 have actually come out - and all 4 broke in the process. I’ve stopped there to avoid further damage. It feels like the plate is locking them in way too tightly.

I’ve built and modded plenty of keyboards and never experienced anything like this. I’ve already submitted a support ticket, but I wanted to ask here too in case anyone else has dealt with this or has advice. Thanks in advance!

You could disassemble the keyboard and pull them from the plate, that is usually easier. Although I have read that geons are hard to remove, I personally haven't had them.

Thanks Momo, I’ve actually already tried disassembling and pushing from behind but still no luck unfortunately. The few switches I’ve managed to remove all broke, so I’m hoping Wooting can help me out with replacements or a fix.

for some of the earlier 80HE the switch plate tolerances can be very tight in some places resulting in switches being hard to remove

i also had this issue with some switches but after removing and swapping the switches a few times it looks like the issue resolved itself

we should be able to send a replacement switch plate to resolve the issue and include some switches as well - may want to mention how many are affacted in the email if havent already
