Are there any 3rd party plates and foams?
Yours, when you hypothetically design the Two HE v2 (you probably understood the other way around) ๐
What I meant is for the plates and all parts for the v2 to be backwards compatible with the OG ๐
including a case ? ๐ see what I did there? ๐
Don't leave us Two HE users hanging now ๐
It wouldnt possible due to how case is made
Forget the case. If the pcb had the same holes, it is possible to use the v2 case/plate and accessories with an OG PCB . So you could use the OG PCB with the v2 case and mounts
The OG pcb would be the only reused material
You would need complete redesign of pcba to use new keyboard tech like gaskets
The new PCB and all mounts would need to have similar dimensions yes
You know how twohe looks like
I think I do. I have 4 of them
So you must understand it would require completly redesigning entire keyboard
The new v2 would simply require the same dimensional pcb with same/some fixing points
Being gasket mounted would be even simpler to achieve
I think you don't understand where I'm trying to get at. I am only asking for the new v2 two he to be dimensional equal to the existing pcb.
So we can then upgrade the original ones with the new cases and mounts/ gaskets
This is the epiphany of retro compatibility
And all current two he owners would be happy to transplant their pcb to the new case/ mount design
@mighty kraken it is all up to mark and erik
Because they are pushing twohe to be made
I see this as a win win, hence why I am proving the feedback here
But you must understand current pcb cant be converted to diffrent mounting style how grounding works in this pcb
Being gasket mounted it makes no difference. The ground is also fed on the jst connector
This tutorial will guide you how to swap the PCB on the Wooting Two HE.

I know about the o-ring for ground. But isnt ground passed on the jst as well?
If they would do another fullsize it wouldnt have two diffrent cables to just to make keyboard work
It would be like in 80he
One cable for for everything
That can be resolved with an adapter cable , in case the v2 has a daughter board
Which would make both keyboards uncompatible with each other
The adapter cable would include the o- ring, but connect to the new daughter board
Problem solved ๐
It wouldnt
Why?
Ask tony
Ah okay, I understood your original post backwards.
It's a reasonable consideration, but I wouldn't want to be prevented from making fundamental improvements on the basis of ensuring backwards compatibility with an old pcba.
I could see a situation where a choice might need to be made between an improved functionality or backwards compatibility. In that case, a sacrifice must be made by either old customers (lose backwards compatibility) or new customers (miss out on a feature).
I can't answer this one way or another at this point in time, but I can assure you that current owners of W2HE would be considered, were there to be development work being done on a full sized refresh.
I'll be happy as long is this is considered! ๐ ๐
All the best for 2he v2
If there's no woot numpad at least there's something full sized I can go for if I'm really hungry for Numpad
what why me
also a bit confusing to call a wire lug an "o-ring" when o-ring usually means a rubber ring
My bad. We call the connector o-ring. But you get the reference
