If I bind any other function, e.g., "A" or "backspace" to the L-CTRL button, it works, but if I bind Caps, it retains the L-CTRL function. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Make sure you are making the change on the digital profile (1st profile on the keyboard, which is the one automatically selected when you plug the keyboard) , as most likely all other profiles are linked to that one. I had no difficulties in mapping CAPS to the Left Control Key
