Looked around in some forums and this is what a retired Shopify Staff member found:
Customers should be able to pay for orders using pre-paid cards, but the customer needs to register an address with the pre-paid card first, as per the instructions that are typically outlined on the card. If a customer has not taken the steps to register an address with the card, then the transaction may decline.
So sounds like you may not have registered the name and address to the card
i never new this was a thing
Apparently it is. Haven’t had a personal experience with prepaid cards in over a decade. Just guessing, but wherever you go to check your balance, you should be able to register a name and address to it for use in online transactions.
interesting
yeah i cant find anything for this on the page
does wooting accept prepaid cards?
Wooting is a Shopify platform and accepts Mastercard cards…so it shouldn’t be an issue.
but i keep recevingi in issue
Well if you don’t have a name or address linked to it or have an insufficient balance, the payment can’t be processed. If it’s being canceled after processing and saying that it’s being canceled due to potential fraud, that’s a different issue.
theres no think to do that
If there’s a phone number on the back of the card, you could call that.
you can have a email or phone number or anything asociated with the card i have though
also the card has $190 and the wooting 60he is $185 (with taxes applied already)
Don’t understand what you’re getting at with this.
Depending on the prepaid card’s terms, that could still be considered “insufficient funds” because last time I had a prepaid visa gift card, even though it had like $50 on it, I could only spend like $40 of it and the rest went towards card fees.
If you can’t have any personal information like name or address associated with the gift card, you may not be able to use it online because that’s part of the verification info required when making online purchases
so what do i do with the card?
cause i wanna use it but i cant
Read the terms and conditions that came with said gift card…
it never said anything about linking emails or phone numbers and the whole website is blank and only lets you look at your balance and transactions
I never said you have to link your email or phone number.
I said you likely need to register the card with your name and address in order to make online purchases
But if you read the terms and conditions of the card, it will likely solve any questions.
wait i heard some people say that it may take 24 hours to activate
but idk
i bought it like 9 hours ago
These are questions you’d likely be able to answer with the cards terms and conditions info
also where is the thing located? cause it only works for us
Do what?
the card only works in US
i am in us
but it says it depends on the company's location
or something like that
so if the company is outside of the us it wont work
Wooting is based in the Netherlands but when I bought mine (I’m also in US), it didn’t process as an international transaction
ok so yeah i cant get it then
that sucks
you know any ways i can work around this?
It shouldn’t be an issue since Shopify will process the transaction locally. But it could be an issue. Once again, your best bet is to read the documentation that came with the card because it’ll show how to use the card and certain considerations. You could try to link it to Apple/Google/Amazon/Shop Pay services and it may solve your issue, but idk. Just can’t stress enough for you to read documentation that came with the card.
i know i looked, it does not work for certain purchases
omg turns out, its a indian scam company and they just steal your money
Wooting? No.
i looked it has a rating of 98% negative
no the gift card company
Ah. Well, that’ll do it.
it was the only available gift card in my store aswell
What’s the “company”
i cant believe i lost $200
SecureSpend
Did you buy it at Walmart or something?
albertsons
i hope theres a way i can get my money back or somehow get a meta quest 3 and the keyboard i want
Try to get refund from Albertsons. If they refuse, from what I can see on CFPB https://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/ and you should be able to get your money back.
After you get your money back, just get a debit card (not hard to open a bank or credit union checking account) or get a credit card. If you have something like PayPal, cashapp, etc. you can request a debit card for those.
try and put the card on apple pay or google pay and then you should be able to buyy
other than bank chargeback i doubt a scam company will give your money back
How would I get my money back then, you know?
Contact the seller
Try to get refund from Albertsons or file a report to the consumer financial protection bureau that I linked above to get reimbursed.
