Hey, I just got my Wooting 80HE today, and it didn't work by just plugging it in. Now I am trying restore/reset it, but that is also not working. Error: Timed out finding Bootloader

Both restore keys are lighting up in blue.
Also, I can't find "Wooting Restore" anywhere in my Device Manager.

I tried following the steps on the website, restarted PC, used different USB-Ports and even cables but I can't figure out why its not working.

Does anyone know what else I can do or try to get it working properly?

Thanks

  • using a different pc (in this case macbook) didn‘t work aswell. The keyboard is in restore mode but won‘t show up in device manager, neither on my main pc nor on my macbook.

After countless hours of trying to fix it yesterday, it just fixed itself randomly today:

I started my PC just a few minutes ago, held down the Restore Mode Buttons while starting my PC (I don't know, that might have done the trick) and the keyboard being connected, and somehow now it's shown in Device Manager and I was able to flash it.

I think this may be the result of the internal JST cable coming loose in transit from vibrations, causing the connection for power/ground to be established so it can enter "Wooting Restore" mode but not be detected by the system (which requires data + / - to be connected)

So if you have trouble in the future, I recommend disassembling the keyboard and trying to push in the JST cable on both ends, as it may be only partially attached

(for references this is a picture of the JST cable)

right now none should be causing any major issues (firmware update fixed conflicts that can happen from rgb software)

what problem are you happening?

I'm trying to change the RGB from Wootility software directly, but there's this warning message telling me that some Third-Party RGB-SDK-App is doing the RGB Stuff for the Keyboard, so Wootility can't do anything

#

It's in german but I think you get what I mean

yea.

i get this as well when rgb software is controlling my keyboard
i will get a list of software that can interact with the keyboard rgb

#
  • Artemis RGB
  • Asus Armoury Crate
  • L-Connect3
  • Open RGB
  • Project Aurora
  • Razer software
  • Signal RGB
  • Wallpaper Engine (1 Report)
  • Motiv Mix (1 Report - Mic software)
  • Nano Leaf desktop app
#

(not a complete list- but a list of software that i have received reports of causing issues with the keyboard + wootility)

Razer Chroma is a different one than Synapse correct? I only got Synapse installed, SignalRGB is uninstalled to troubleshoot what the problem is and other than that I don't have any from the list.

I mean there were a few weird processes in my taskmanager called LEDKeeperService or something similar (already closed them out) but still doesn't seem to be working.

#

Well I do have Wallpaper Engine but don't currently use it

Not sure with Synapse, but you can end the software temporarily and check

i think that software can only interact with the keyboard with "Razer chroma" connection via (app - wootility) but i could be wrong

I believe in some cases the software doesn't let go of the control right even when uninstalling, requiring the keyboard to be replugged

#

So in case you haven't done that it's something you could try

Razer Synapse all processes closed, still no luck.
I will try the re-plug thing and let you know if it helped, thanks!
