I'm playing The Last Of Us Part II with an analogue profile on my Wooting. Analogue walking works fine, but I have an issue where, when changing weapons with Q or the mouse, I accidentally select a different weapon if I press one of the WASD keys while the weapon cross is still visible because it's registered as a movement button in Wootility. Has anyone found a workaround for this issue, or is there nothing I can do to fix it?

i assume this would also happen if you use left stick in the weapon wheel/cross? (as in you just use an actual controller and it could still happen)

I thought the same thing, but I haven't tested it. One sec.

#

Hmm, no

#

Weapon switching in this game is tied to the directional buttons on the controller, not the analogue stick. So I choose a weapon with one of the d-pad buttons and I can move normally with the joystick without accidentally choosing a different weapon.

ok does this issue occur when youre on a wooting profile without gamepad mappings?

#

so wasd is just wasd not left stick as well

swift talon
#

No, I've tested that. Works normally when I'm not on my custom wooting profile.

ok there is a switch in the gamepad mappings (do this on the profile you use for the game) for gamepad mapping override

#

this disables the digital key output for any key with a gamepad mapping on it

#

means you cant chat anymore while on the profile but also means you only do left stick output and not wasd as well

swift talon
#

There's a switch?

#

I'm stupid. Can you explain exactly what I'm supposed to click to disable digital key output?

limpid crag
#

in the gamepad settings for the profile

swift talon
#

Found it. Let me test.

#

Thank you, that works! Now I just have to switch profiles to type WASD when I want to chat, but I can live with that.

sadly a downside with dual use like this but normally something managable

#

glad it fixed it

#

you could also try and see if theres an option in game to unmap wasd from the weapon cross

#

the issue is that without the override enabled you send left stick signals and your pc gets the signal youre pressing wasd keys. so the game just uses wasd inputs when possible which prob is a mapping for the weapon cross for PC players

swift talon
#

Weapon cross seems to be tied to the arrow keys

#

And not WASD

limpid crag
#

hmmm

swift talon
#

Not sure what's going on there

limpid crag
#

truly odd

swift talon
#

I thought so too

#

Although I never expect developers to take analogue keyboards into account during development. But I'm glad I found a solution.

limpid crag
#

well mixed input is the keyword here. so using controller and keyboard/mouse inputs simultaneously

#

theres afaik no games that use analog keyboards directly

swift talon
#

I'm going off topic on my question here, but I assume there's truly no hope for games like MGSV, is there? That's, like, the one game I feel needs an analogue keyboard the most, but as far as I understand it doesn't work at all with the Wooting.

limpid crag
#

should work fine with a wooting. just prob has issues with mixed input

#

you can test any game by just using a keyboard and controller at the same time

#

basically all our keyboard does for gamepad output as well

swift talon
#

Ah yes, that's what I meant

#

I read somewhere that the mixed input doesn't work in that game and that it's basically up to the developers to enable it

limpid crag
#

theres only really 2 issues you could run into that break it:

  1. it locks input to the first made one. so if you press keyboard/mouse first thats it or controller first then thats it
  2. the button prompts keep changing depending on the last input made and if its controller or keyboard/mouse
#

nr 1 is smth only the dev or an extensive mod could fix

#

nr2 can reduce fps depending on how often the ui does change
