I am ger but have a English layout and when ever i need to use ä ö ü i would like to be able to do it in fn mode.

i will do it with ascii macro ä : Alt + 0228.
ö : Alt + 0246.
ü : Alt + 0252.
ß : Alt + 0223.
Ä : Alt + 0196.
Ö : Alt + 0214.
Ü : Alt + 0220.
