Bug with shipping to Korea

Noticed that there might be a potential bug or shipping mistake with the shipping to Korea right now. Before you swapped to duty paid deliveries there used to be a shipping option to Korea for smaller/lighter orders that weren't too crazily priced.

I remember checking the price for a 60he pc plate awhile ago and it was under $10 to ship it to Korea.

• Now the minimum ship price for everything seems to be $30~ even if it's just a spring pack
• Another thing: Korea doesn't charge duties for shipments under $150, so I'm not sure if this is something that is accidentally pushing up the price of the min DDP shipping on the smaller/cheaper orders

One more thing, does this mean past orders might be getting messed up by this such as optimum case? I noticed DDP 80HE shipping to Korea is the same price as just the optimum case I ordered recently, even though the optimum case is $120 and shouldn't be taxed, while the 80he is over $150.

the shipping could be an actual issue but the 150$ thing idk why that would be the case. we havent heard of this and if you have links to government websites explaining the duty rules we would gladly like to investigate this further

This is just duties though right, not taxes

So an order for less than $150 would still be charged taxes (that the parcel carrier handles) just not additioonal duties

I've opened an investigation for this internally, so the more context you're able to provide - the better

yeah that's right. language wise that would be classified under the 'import charges/duties' side not 'taxes' by the shipper. Eg - amazon puts it under import duties not taxes when you go over $150 when shipping to korea

Is this $150 pretax or post tax?

i guess technically including tax, although I can't remember if I've ever had a non korea online retailer charge any vat/tax when shipping out of their country to korea. Usually always says $0 tax

Done some digging on this, Shopify is correctly not charging duties on orders less than $150 and also isn't charging tax, even though the shipping method is still listed as DDP

So this does look to be functioning correctly

ah that's interesting, so the DDP shipping is just named that even when you're not paying duties, good to know

So is the $30 shipping charge just the lowest fed ex offers then? That's the thing that weirded me out with the shipping originally when I was looking at some small items

Yes, we're not well configured to ship low weight items, our shipping options are optimized for keyboard-weight shipments

A few places can make use of carriers that offer better prices like DeutshcePost for low value low weight shipments, but they don't have the capacity to offer DDP
