Please update us on how the wrist rest ages
Sure, but be forewarned, I only lightly touch my wrists to it while using it.
Gottit. Ty
what was the total price?
Where did u buy the caps?
Quite a bit 🤪
Hows the sound
If it helps, I had the white wrist rest for my 60he for a while now, still looks brand new. Even if I get it dirty, it looks brand new after a quick wash. I recommend it!
get a metal wrist rest to complete the build 😂 (100% would not comfortable)
Thing is, I've seen someone's blue or black wrist get shiny over time. Although I'm guessing this is based on your body's PH and prespiration level
really? I'm surprised
I also remember wooting replying it's normal
I see, never notice the issue
ahhh okay that makes sense, haven't hit the 1 year mark yet
Nice build
im considering those keycaps for a build im working on right now but concerned about QC issues and spring levels
What spring level force did you use and what were they closest to if I may ask
Also how do they feel as daily drivers?
I guess the best way to describe the sound is the deepest 'thock' possible (deeper than even the alumina ceramic keys out there - 3.987 g/cm^3 vs ~7.9 g/cm^3 of stainless, presuming similar wall thickness in the key caps). There is also zero rattle or resonance from surrounding keys, too. A little bit of metallic ping is present when you stab at them, but that is barely perceptible, especially when typing normally.
The space bar, on the other hand, does have a metallic ring to it, but sounds exceptionally authoritative to use. I may try to dampen it with foam in the space bar later. I am trying to troubleshoot some metallic noise in the backspace and left shift buttons; it isn't present in the return or right shift buttons, so I'm trying to get parity there. So far I've only tried dental bands around the stems, but they didn't do much at all.
I haven't done any other mods to the board, yet, but we'll see down the line.
Wooting claims this is made of a "high quality silicone," so hopefully any oil permeability would be minimal, similar to cooking instruments made of silicone. Time will tell...
I was concerned with the QC as well, as I had seen a review that the stems were too tight. That reviewers remedy was to file the cross in the stem to get them to fit better. I hedged against this by getting an extra set of ABS keys in case this key set wasn't good. Thankfully it worked just fine.
As for the spring levels, I prefer a light key stroke, so the 45g springs works well with most keys. The space bar was the big problem and after successively increasing the spring rate on it, I ended up at 100g. I also increased the rate of the backspace and both shift buttons to 60g, the backslash/pipe button to 70g, and the caps lock button to 80g.
Okay thanks
And how are they as daily drivers, do you 'miss' anything about plastic keycaps?
It works great! No regrets at all
The only niggle with these key caps is that there aren't bumps on the 'F' and 'J' keys to get a touch feel of where 'home position' is, but it hasn't been a big issue
Noted on that but that issue is zero concern to me
First is build quality, then feel etc
Ty, I may end up getting them depending on how the case turns out
Some people complain about the corners being "sharp"...I'd say they are sharper than plastic, but not uncomfortable
Ive read those too, doest seem like a big deal
And thanks again for the heads up on the springs
Im using Raws so will likely be different
No problem; good luck with yours!
What keycaps?
I want to do this with my 60he+
@storm bramble @neat dust After a year and a half, my wrist rest is still looking great. I don’t dig my wrists into it, but it has resisted oil splatters when I’m eating at my desk and the like. Overall very happy with it
Time to upgrade my switches
