Lack of Switch Clarity (v1, v1.5, v2) on Website

I ordered a Wooting 2 HE, and then got a coupon for the v2 switches as a loyalty bonus. Checking here that it didn't already have v2, I assumed it had v1 (the only options on the site to order, for example), and purchased replacement v2 switches. Then, and only then, did I see that there was information elsewhere on this discord that new Wooting keyboards generally have v1.5 switches, not v1, and that the difference was negligible.

Please make it clear on the product pages exactly what version of the switches come with each keyboard, and include the information about the v1.5 switches being virtually indistinguishable from the v2 (and how to check which ones you have) on the pages for ordering replacement switches as well.

This made me end up joining the Discord Server and use the Search to find information about it. Took me a while through because Discord's Search ain't the most reliable even if the correct keywords are used.
So yeah, having that disclosed on either the product page or checkout would probably be great :o

The Lekker V1.5s and Lekker V2s are not indistinguishable, they’re quite different. The Lekker V1s and Lekker V1.5s are indistinguishable though.
The reason V1 or V1.5 isn’t stated on the website could be because they don’t know which you’ll receive. They could have some older boards left that haven’t sold yet. If that isn’t the case, then yes, the site should state V1.5s.

V1.5 switches are pretty similair to V2 switches, but I will quote from our Discord:
Both versions have significantly improved tolerances for the switch housings, which will result in substantially less stem wobble.
The Lekker V2 switches also have improved tolerances with the strength of the magnet, which makes the measurement of the switch position by the hall effect sensor both more accurate and more precise. While this is a measurable improvement, it is an imperceptible difference for us mere humans. "

Oh is that what the website already states or was it said by an employee?

No, not really. Lekker V1s and V1.5s are from the same manufacturer, Gateron and telling them apart is close to impossible. Lekker V2s are from a different manufacturer, Hejin and you can easily tell them apart from Lekker V1s and V1.5s. The way Lekker V1s, V1.5s and V2s are similar is that the colors of the stems are teal or yellow on all of them, that’s about it. 😅
