Hey guys, I just got my 80HE and I've been trying out overwatch. I have rapid trigger on and Tachyon on, as well as SOCD. I'm not sure what causes it yet but at some point in my gameplay my keyboard starts ghosting, it freezes on me walking forward or backwards, and I can't stop walking in that direction, none of the keys work. Only way I found to fix it is to disconnect and reconnect the cable. I'm testing the featues trying to see which one is causing this issue, but if anyone else is having this issue and found the fix please let me know. If I find out what feature is causing it I'll update this.
#80HE on overwatch ghosting
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Issue looks like it still happens when SOCD is turned off
Issue looks fixed so far with Tachyon off, only been one game, jumping in another
2nd game with Tachyon off and no ghosting, after a 3rd game with no ghosting ill turn back on SOCD with Tachyon still off and see if that works
Yeah, pretty sure the issue was the Tachyon, I have RT on as well as SOCD, no issues within 3 games. I'll leave this post here if anyone else has the problem and was wondering how to fix it
(could be a long shot, but maybe it's cause i'm using the USB 3 adaptor and not using straight USB C?)
connect the keyboard directly to a USB port with tachyon enabled and validate if the issue reproduces
Thanks for the comment, I have it connected to a USB 3 port, it's using the USB 3 to USB C adapter. Do you mean use a USB C port and seeing if that fixes the issue?
I mean connecting directly to the computer USB port without connecting to a HUB. also, make sure you are running the latest firmware, as some bugs have been corrected lately
Oh, yeah it's connected to the computer USB port, also on the latest firmware
Any fixes for this other than turning tachyon off?
I just got my 80he and it instantly happens in deadlock
Turning off Tachyon has worked for me so I don't know any other fixes, unless maybe we get an update that fixes it. Keep in mind Valve banned SOCD in CSGO and I'm pretty sure for all other games under their name. Try turning off that feature along with Tachyon and see if that fixes it for you.
yeah I didnt have that on, kinda sucks cause I want lowest possible delay
But ig 1 ms to 0.125ms isn't a big deal
I'm sure that a software or firmware update will fix it
Hope so. And yeah the difference isn't a big deal, but if we're paying for a product we'd like to use the product. So at the same time, if we can't use it then what's the point in paying the premium of a wooting keyboard am I right lol
yeah waited 6 months for 80he too
You can place a ticket and link this thread if you want, currently I only really play overwatch and don't have an issue without Tachyon enabled, so I'm alright with waiting however long until a possible fix @median aurora
Yeah I emailed them, we'll see
I think this is prolly widespread issue, I've seen a few posts
Gotcha
I have the same issue while playing warframe, keyboard freezes while pressing forward and have to disconnect it to reset it. I'm using the default Typing profile without any changes in the settings.
Hmm interesting
have you guys tried disabling usb power savings in windows power plan?
I have not, but that sounds like it could be a solution, I'll try it when I get home. Do you have this issue as well, if so did disabling this feature fix it?
darn, got the issue the 2nd time
What'd they say in the email you wrote to them?
Dang
Interestingly i have had it once initially, then i changed from direct c to type a, and it didn't occur again after a few hrs of gaming, then I heard people mentioning USB power savings, so decided to try it out with direct c, and I have not had it happen since and it has been weeks.
I also had some weird glitches with the software which prompted me to reset the keyboard, so it could have been just that. Unsure tbh.
I have not had any glitches with the software after that
I just tried the disabling the USB power savings thing mentioned in the chat. Now tachyon mode works in my limited testing!
Seems like the fixes are different for every keyboard, I'm using usb3.0 but I do have a USB C port, it's just in a weird place so I'll skip it. Hoping Wooting knows about this problem, definitely seems like a wide issue
I don't have USB c port and the power saving didn't work
But I think if they know about it. It's a matter of time until a firmware update could fix it
just encountered this same issue as well, currently on the first typing profile without tachyon mode on and its frozen on me three times so far
i also disabled the usb power saving thing as well, but it seems that didn't help me 💔
Without it on? Rly that's cooked
U could try making a different profile n messing with settings
Is urs 80he?
Zinc or regular
regular
I'm using regular, ghost case
I sent supp ticket, maybe u guys do same so they know it's global issue
Haven't tried playing other games but I can confirm that I don't have the issue when I turn off Tachyon, waiting on a fix
Will do
Did you send it in #1141096226884956181 or to their email?
Deadlock overwatch both have issue. Pretty sure others have said it's like that for cs too
I emailed their supp email and still waiting on response. They r overloaded apparently
Could be related to 80he being 8k polling rate vs 1k
So it's already way faster than 60he. Maybe the firmware isn't properly able to load tachyon mode
any feedback yet?
Nope
None on my end either
New firmware out
If anyone tries the new firmware and it fixes it please let us know. I'll test it out too but probably not today, won't have time
^^^^
Sorry bois been extremely busy, I'll be able to test if the update fixes it tonight
happened 4 times today with updated firmware v2.10.0-alpha.12, one time in css, two times in portal rtx and now once while setting up obs, was planning to record my gameplay with keystrokes to catch one but it happened while spamming keys to test obs, Actuation Point got stuck on 1.77, then the keyboard disconnected in wootility while still having lights on, at the end i unplugged the keyboard to reset it, here are some pics from it
Thank you for the update, dang so the problem persist. It's the same for me when my keyboard freezes, at least when I last tried it. LEDs stays on and I have to disconnect and reconnect the cable to reset it. We'll just have to wait longer for a fix I guess.
@timid yarrow - @proven pollen
For testing, could you attempt to lower the polling rate to 1000 and see if there is any improvement to the stutter/freezes and see if this resolves the problem
This could relate to 8k polling and possible signal loss, as the way data is sent in 1k/8k is different. For example:
- 1000 polling uses USB High Speed, which sends data at 3.3V.
- 8000 polling uses USB Full Speed, which sends data at 0.4V.
This can cause Full Speed to be more susceptible to EMI or voltage drops, leading to possible signal loss.
Thank you for the suggestion, I will try this out tonight and report back.
Bruh I was testing 1000 polling rate but didn't turn on tachyon mode so it was all for nothing lol, let me play a few more games with tachyon now enabled
Played 3 games, usually the freezing happens around here but I've got nothing so far. I think that solves the issue(using 1k polling than 8k). Is there any way to fix this? Maybe with a software update or maybe the usb port im using isn't too good, I do have a USB C port, it's being used but worth a try.
Yeah switching different ports doesn't help, still freezes. Seems like best thing to do right now is to use 1k polling, that seems to fix and is the issue to freezing @unkempt oyster (sorry for ping just wanna make sure you get the message)
Hope it can be fixed with a future software update
this issue can be caused by some of the data being sent/revived is not reaching the point as "Full speed" data i sent at a lower voltage and this can degraded to the point it can't be read causing some issues you can attempt the following
-
Trying a different USB port
one further away from the current location in case this is caused by the USB controller. -
Try a USB Hub or KVM (if possible)
Some USB hubs or KVMs may have a "Redriver" that can amplify a weak signal back to 0.4v to resolve the problem.- Note if the front of the Computer case has an SD card reader or other functions there is a possibility that this could be a USB Hub in the case
-
Another USB cable
Some cables may have enough resistance causing voltage drop, or if they are not properly shielded EMI could influence the cable
In case you are not using the stock cable, please attempt to use this first.
Hmm, I'm not using any USB Hubs or KVMs, it's being plugged in directly to my PC ports. Tried both the end and the front of the PC to no luck. Also using the stock Wooting cable that was included with the 80HE
OH, I completly read the USB hub wrong sorry, I thought you said the issue could be that im using a usb hub
I don't have an usb hubs to test that out
No worries, it is a bit odd saying "to use a Hub/KVM" as I have been saying the opposite for over a year now 🙂
So I have made that mistake a few times with 8K tickets
Alrighty, if it can't be fixed then it is what it is, not ground breaking for me personally. I doubt I'd be able to notice the difference between 8k and 1k, probably
Plus all the other features still work
yea it can be a bit hard to notice -
1K polling: 0.001 seconds
8K polling: 0.000125 seconds
That's a much smaller difference than I thought, I can live without 8k. Thank you for taking the time to looking into this
going forward i am sticking to that format in time instead of
1ms
0.125ms
as this format makes it sound like a bigger differences
Yeah for sure
But if you and your team do find a fix that could be solved with a firmware update, please include that in the patch notes so we can see that an update fixes it, instead of saying something like "fixes some bugs" would be very helpful
Saves us the time in testing out each software updates
