I'm also not particularly convinced by the direction it has just taken. It just looks damn similar to the style of NZXT cases. They are scratch-prone and don't look ultra premium - good but not premium. I'd like it if it was a bit more similar to Elgato surfaces.

I doubt they have enough time to poll it since it's running late compared to the others as is, it is strange they gave priority to the plastic cases or maybe plastic was just easier for them to source I doubt the coating will be as cheap as the stuff on NZXT cases, if it is ill have to return the board.

I agree, I think we'd need to see more of it since the very short close-ups shown in a video can be misleading... I would like to see a version from different angles and distances. I didn't dislike it in the video where it was shown, but at the same time it looked a bit "grainy", but this could be because it was nearly a macro shot.
Apart from the looks, my main worry is about scratches. I would want it to last scratch free for many years.
