After a lost package and a long time I finally got my keyboard, but I am a bit baffled by the terrible packaging of a 190€ keyboard.
How on earth is is not even being sent in a proper package?
It looks like the keyboard survived (not tested yet), but the package was already partially ripped open.
The wooting OVP package itself seems to be thankfully quite good.

it has been brought up internally a few times and the internal suggestion was made to let people pay for an extra box around the box if they so choose. i am not aware if we actually plan to implement this or not.

I've had two orders from Wooting, one with a box and one without. My understanding from that is that if you JUST order a 60he/module, it will be packaged how OP packaged it. But if you get any other goodies, they get put in a box.

In either case, having a box for all orders would be much apprecaite 🙂

the fact is it doesnt really change anything to have another box around just a keyboard. if its curb stomped itll still ruin everything and if its kicked/thrown around itll also just dent or bend everything inside

You can put more padding in a box though
I mean in both cases my shipments were fine, I don't know the % of customers you have who reach out about shipping damages to say the extra padding is necessary or recommend it but it does have a more premium feel imo

Yes, I believe due to the inner box being more or less well padded it survived without any noticable damage. Very happy with the keyboard itself for now. Just thought the packaging was quite risky, especially for international shipping

Packaging must be in a box with some kinda support as a customers are always excited to unbox the package and they always expect a neat and clean product with zero dents on the original box like its just bought from the store

In general anything added to the 60 and it’ll come in a box as it’ll provide better protection for multiple items inside.
Only the 60, we packaging was made so that it is the shipping box.
With the 80HE, we will be sending it all in cartons as packaging is focused on slim as possible, not as shipping box. 60 just has a unique size and portability that makes this all click together.
I do understand the sentiment though.

I brought this up twice before and once through support like suggested at the time. Bubblewrap envelopes for anything stiff and fragile puts way too much trust in the shipping company. My switch plate (a thin box) which came in an envelope as well and was, I kid you not, folded during shipping. Envelopes are fine for anything that comes in a bag or is flexible but not for boxes. I also made the argument that cardboard is easier(?) to recycle than those bubblewrap envelopes. I’d happily pay whatever more per item for boxes to ship in boxes. 🙂

Yeah, that's a good point conerning the plate. There're still otpmizations that can be made on fulfillment , but it's optimizing details, and we're just growing too fast to get too stuck on it.
I am training 2 new and first financial people to get better cost control and free up my time a, goal is to also start narrowing down and optimizing this coming year.

idk if I can add up to this but got my keyboard yesterday and the bag was open , luckily the bubble wrap around the keyboard box kept it safe, might be UPS handling it the wrong way who knows

everything was in perfect shape so the bubblewrap kept everything safe ! it was just the shipping bag that was ripped, I'm still extremely happy with my new keyboard

Mine looked the same, but so far I haven't experienced anything damaging to the keyboard so I think its okay, but yeah, I wish the packaging were a tiny bit better.
