#Stepped CapsLock Compatibility

Surely stepped capslock is compatible, call me stupid if I am but isn’t stepped capslock just a keycap? You don’t need anything special to install it right??
Stem location is not compatible on a stepped capslock
stepped capslock requires the key to be moved left
so its either only stepped capslock or normal capslock
someone might make a modified stepped keycap that works with normal switch placement but the step would be tiny
like half of whats in the image
Ah ok I concede then
Yeah, I have found one place that supposedly makes a center stemmed stepped capslock, but yet to be seen if it works correctly
also theres not much of a functional reason to have it stepped on modern keyboards as you can just unmap capslock and put it onto an fn layer meaning it cant accidentally be pressed
I use personally use my capslock as a second function key, but I've thought many times that it'd be easier to recognize the position of it if it was stepped.
id guess that depends on what youre used to
But overall, not even in my limited use case, I feel like it always made more sense anyway, it's a weird key that almost no one uses
the main use of the step is not accidentally pressing it AND not pressing it massively offcenter
although the offcenter press is a side effect of needing to move it due to the step size
Just a thought.
You guys are a rather influential company in the keyboard space at this point from what I can tell. Creating a new (better) normal is something influential companies do 🙂
Step it up
If anyone happens to be interested here is the site that sells center stem capslock (stepped)
