It would be awesome if along with the Main Layer there would be a Secondary Layer that is not shown until something happens, such as a keystroke or time elapsed.

For example if I set up my keyboard to static colors on the Main Layer where I use different colors for some of the keys and when I use the Trail effect layer the effect color on press would be as in the Secondary Layer.
This way I can have the keyboard on maximum brightness while still having a visible effect. Currently if I use an orange effect color it is not visible on the keys where the backlighting is orange, but this way I could change where I have orange backlighting to have purple effect.

Another example:
If I have the main layer static with custom color mappings and I set up the Base (or Secondary) Layer to Wave or Breathing then after the effect with the set colorings the keyboard should return to the main layer color mapping.
This way I could say do a Red and Orange keyboard mapping while a Yellow Wave goes through it.
And... it could have a have a breathing effect on the keyboard that go between Red and Blue with no Black in-between where Red is the Main Layer and Blue is the Secondary Layer
