nah its fine for me
because its technically a webapp, is my guess
webUSB my beloved
usually drivers are using kbdclass.dll and system api calls for operations
this one is just the whole software localhosted using web packages
im not gonna pretend i know how wootility works, but i was under the impression that the ARM chip on the device handles custom logic and just sends to the OS whether its a keyboard or joystick, the wootility just sends commands to the arm chip (presumably webusb, a chrome feature, hence electron, since chromium engine) to make it do things differently, its customization not a driver
yooo new wootility, very pog
@sullen patio hopefully this does not pull you away from something important, but thank you for getting that simple RGB request in, Wooting is king
This pretty much. That's why Wootility web and Wootility desktop are virtually identically, because the keyboard does everything and Wootility is just a configuration interface
(btw we use WebHID not WebUSB)
webhid is essentially lower-level webusb isnt it
Higher level I guess? As HID is a layer on top of USB (or Bluetooth)
when will the new firmware (stable) be released?
The new stable firmware will come along with the release of Wootility v4.6 to stable
so tomorrow?
That's the plan, at least at the moment 😄
oh okay, do we need to upgrade? i am on the latest firmware, Im just afraid of upgradfing it might break it
The latest beta firmware will likely be basically identical to the stable release I'll be doing. So should be safe to update, you may just need to adjust some RGB effect settings
Oh okay, thats good to hear. I dont have rgb enabled anyway, I just have the AOE set to 70%
what do you mean ill be doing? or is it auto correct?
Meaning when he releases the stable build tomorrow
The current beta build is identical to the coming stable build, usually how Simon has done it since Ive been here
For firmware correct? Just want to double check
is there going to be keybinds for multiple keys like ctrl + o on 1 key
Okay, and when they say tomorrow do we have a time? I am in NA pst so I’m not really sure
I suppose it's easier to build "user intrafaces" or something ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I mean the beta is the stable..what is with the rush?
That would be something for Wootomation to handle, it seems they wish to keep Wootility light as possible
Which imo is a w, we don't need bloated software like the big guys
Just paranoia I guess with other products, had bad experience with “beta” stuff
They are usually on top of all bugs, the team from my experience has been amazing so far
Sometimes it takes them longer than some would like, but it gets fixed
I’m on the latest beta rn, no issues except one time I had to replug my keeb a month ago bc typing would feel laggy
Just afraid of tricking my keeb
Bricking*
But I heard it’s the same firmware basically
cool new RGB combo a0fbec43daf8c9475794a5fb04966a0a8b1b
You can do this using DKS currently, I plan to add a simpler 'Hotkey' or 'Shortcut' Advanced key
Still plan for todays release or nah?
nah, going to wait til Monday morning. Had a few bits come up that made me worried about my weekend if I pushed it today lol
Although I did push a new beta build with a few fixes
Thanks for the hard work ❤️ Love the wooting team
enjoy your weekend
has anyone had any issue where they needed to update through the firmwares one by one? or is that intended?
You would've ended up doing that if you tried to update your firmware before updating your Wootility
oh i was always going to beta.wootility.io though which is weird. could it have been something as easy as clearing my cookies and/or doing a hard refresh (ctrl-f5)?
i think i remember that fixing wootility issues in the past
I bought a 60he ansi recently and i was trying to change the action of a key to a ñ but there's no option in the app. Is there any chance this can be added?
~ here take this
is the stable version still not here?
let it cook for the weekend
is it me or does this beta make the 60 he warmer
not what i meant by cook
It shouldn't, unless you're doing something more crazy with your RGB effects maybe
same rgb effects from every beta so i dont see how it would affect it. : solid color
Hmmmm, could just be a coincidence then
