As a big Tolkien fan since childhood it was a lot of fun for me to bring together several things I enjoyed on the Wooting 60HE keyboard.
- I kept the stock materials except keycaps and the strap.
- Changed the strap with color matching leather and cut it down to fit exact dimensions.
- Keycaps are Dwarven themed LOTR MT3 set + Artisan Mordor key from Drop. (Base, Durin's Forge, Dwarvish Extras).
- Cable is the Skiidata coiled cable from Drop
- Fully lubed switches and springs with GPL205
- Lubed, bandaid and holee modded stabs and wires with XHT-BDZ
- Silicone o-rings
- Putty in space bar.
- Tried 3 layers of tape mod and did nothing so I removed them.
- Tried poron switch pads which felt like enhancing the high pitch so I removed them as well.
- Remapped top 3 keys next to backspace for volume settings to match the theme with Boromir's horn.
Overall I'm quite happy with the experience so far and the sound it produces. I'm looking forward to try PC plate when it's released and perhaps trying different cases in the future.
I keep watching out for the conversations on keyboard_modding which is super helpful for me to try different things and it's a part of the fun for me.
